Rectangular Reception Tables

alysmw, on November 1, 2018 at 12:10 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Hello! I am wondering how y'all decorated rectangular tables for your reception. I alway planned on having circular tables and planned centerpieces based on that. But our reception area actually only has rectangular tables & I'm having a difficult time deciding how to decorate them. I'm thinking of adding a table runner & using candles instead one big bunch of flowers in the middle. What did you do?

We are mixing circular and rectangular! For our rectangle tables we plan to ues candles all the way down and incorporate "bud vases" instead of big floral centerpieces. This keeps the table cozy looking with some flowers but also allows the guests to talk to each other across the table.

We had a mix of rectangle and round tables but here were the rectangle. Sorry we don’t have pro pics back yet so this is all I have!

Hi Alyssa Maria! I'd love to help you think of some decor ideas for your wedding! Personally, I love rectangular tables! I think they can make a reception more intimate and personal! A great layout is to have a tablecloth, a table runner, and your centerpieces in the center, with candles on either side of the centerpiece! You can place things like natural greenery with the candles to fill the space around the table! Something like these:

What colors and style are you planning to use to decorate?

I'm also mixing rounds and rectangular tables - similar to Kelly's, I'm having a floral garland with small gold votives throughout too!

    Here's my inspo

I'm having the same dilemma. When we visited the venue they told us they have both round or rectangular tables so I moved forward with decorations for round tables but it turns out they only use rectangular tables in the area we have reserved for the reception. I'm keeping the centerpieces I have but I'm looking into adding runners. I'm also hoping we have enough candles already purchased that we can add some down the length of the tables.

I feel like round tables are so much easier to decorate because you just gather everything in the middle and you're done with it. There is so much more space to deal with & fill up with rectangular tables! I think runners, garlands, & different height candles look great ... but that can add up so fast ):

I agree! I always love how rectangular tables look but there is much more space to fill which is why I was planning on round tables. I think the runner idea with candles you mentioned in your post will look great! That is what I am leaning towards doing also. Good luck with your decorating! Hopefully we both find fairly inexpensive solutions.

We had rectangular tables and used long garlands with candles of varying heights.

I’m in the same boat! Always planned on rounds, venue has rectangular. This is my inspo!! I will be using blush rose petals with a few stems of eucalyptus and votives!

Wow that is a good idea! I hadn't thought of that. I'm not sure if you know about this already, but you can order 5000 fresh rose petals from Costco for very cheap!
