Red lipstick and nails

Amy, on March 2, 2020 at 3:40 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7

I'm planning on wearing red lipstick and red nails with my ivory gown. A friend mentioned that my bouquet should not clash with my lipstick (the person is a professional photographer). I'm assuming this means that I should not have any pinkish flowers? Am I limited to an ivory bouqet? It's the first I've heard of this, so I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on this. My accent colors for the whole wedding are navy and white/ivory. Because of the white tablecloths at the reception, I wanted a pop of color. Not sure about any red bouquets. It's a May afternoon wedding. Thank you for any responses.

I’m not sure your lipstick and bouquet colors need to match or be cohesive I mean from what you’re saying pink flowers and red lipstick sound fine to me

Well a photographer will definitely have a different artistic opinion but I would just say if you want your nails and lipstick to stand out maybe not to do a red bouquet but I don't think you are limited to just Ivory. I think red and pink are two colors that would actually contrast very well to wear your nails and lips and can't stand out but then you still have some color. You could probably even do a pink or Peach bouquet with little hints of red flowers.

I dont believe your lipstick have anything to do with your bouquet that would be surprising to consider that

I think that’s silly. You hold your bouquet for such a small portion of the day so I wouldn’t base your nails or lipstick off of that.

I’ve never heard anything like that and certainly didn’t follow any rule like that. I actually had the opposite — a red bouquet and a pinkish-mauve lipstick shade. Didn’t notice anything weird about that at all in my pics.

At any rate, I don’t think reds and pinks clash, so I wouldn’t give that a second thought anyway.

I didn't take my bouquet or any flowers into account when I picked my nails/lipstick. I wouldn't worry about that.
