Registering for furniture?

Victoria, on December 30, 2017 at 10:58 AM Posted in Registry 0 11
Is it tacky to register for furniture? We just moved from a 700 sf apartment to a 1900 sf house so things are looking quite empty in here, but it feels weird to register for furniture - thoughts?

I'd say some less expensive furniture would be ok - like not a whole bedroom set, but a coffee table or lamps would be ok.

I think if they are a comparable price to something else, sure? A nightstand, coffee table, maybe even a dinner table???

Thanks! Maybe we will do some guest bedroom or office furniture from target/IKEA and leave out the nicer pieces for master bedroom/living room.

We registered for an ottoman, a tv stand, and a tv wall mount. I think some stuff is fine. The things I listed here were all less than $125 each.

We registered on Amazon, so adding these into our registry was easy and we didn't have to make a registry at multiple places so that we could include furniture. I wouldn't add furniture if it means a new registry at a specific furniture store.

I was told not to register for furniture but could register for smaller pieces such as the throw pillows that would go on the couch, side tables, etc. But not things such as couches, beds, dining table, chairs, etc.

If you decide to register for something like a dining room table, often times your bridal party or family pitches in and gets it as a group gift. We registered for small things like a bar cart, an ottoman, a tv stand, etc. nothing too big or too expensive.

My family and WP said to register for things in all price ranges, a lot of times people will pitch in to buy large items like a bedroom suite, and other times people will just surprise you! If you need furniture go for it because you also get a discount on things that aren’t purchased and that can be a huge help on larger purchases.

We registered for a couple pieces of furniture on Amazon ($500 each). A lot of places offer discounts for items that are still left on your registry. That's why we registered for them. There's also things in the medium and low cost range.

I'm in the "don't register for furniture" camp. I feel like it crosses a line.
