Registering for holiday items

Marcia, on July 14, 2020 at 5:29 PM Posted in Registry 0 12
I'm working to build my registry, and a lot of the things I imagine having in my home one day are special items my parents and grandparents had for the holidays. We made a big deal of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter in my house, and my mom has all these decorations and serving items and dishware that are specific to those days. Is it appropriate to register for any holiday items on the registry? We are planning to have a pretty traditional registry.

We registered for platters and serving bowls that matched our dishes. If you are looking at holiday themed stuff, my concern would be that it’s usually only available around that holiday. Several things we registered for got discontinued between registering and now.

I see no problem with registering for holiday themed items.

Register for whatever you and your FH will want. The registry is about ordering things you need and want.

I think it's a great idea! Especially if you already own all the basic home essentials.

I don’t see why not! Registries are to build you
Home and if you would like to decorate your home for all the holidays then do it! That sounds like a great idea!

You absolutely can! Just be aware that some of those items might not be available anymore if guests are purchasing them out of their typical seasons.

This is a good point. I'll have to keep a close eye on the registry.

You most definitely can! That is such a great idea too and I think your guests would love buying you something they know you'd cherish, especially on holidays. I think it's acceptable to put whatever you want on your registry. Now is the time that it's ok to ask for lavish, expensive, big things (like luggage, kitchenaid mixer, a good knife set, china, etc.). People want to buy you nice things and things they know you'll use. If that is holiday items for you, go for it! But like some others mentioned, certain things may not be in stock when they go to buy for you. I would just say keep an eye on the items you list, and if several go out of stock, add more things to make up for it.

I'm glad! I feel so weird registering for these fancy things and holiday things sometimes because I don't have a lot of basics, but I've been told that guests like to give fun things rather than the basics. I'll be sure to track the holiday seasons and switch things in and out!

Sounds fine to me. You can register for anything you want since it's a wish list.
