Registries: The Knot vs. Zola

Malia, on October 13, 2021 at 3:07 PM Posted in Registry 1 4
Hey, y’all! I’m working on building my registry, and I’d love to hear about your experiences with either Zola or The Knot (or any other universal registry site)! I’m doing my wedding website and RSVPs through Minted and planning through WeddingWire, so I’m not concerned about those features — just the functionality of the registries and the customer service!

I heard at one point that Zola sends emails to guests pushing them to purchase gifts from the registry (which, in my opinion, is not a good look), but so many brides choose Zola over The Knot, so I’m wondering which one is better!

Any thoughts?

I've never used the Knot, my husband and I used Zola and had no problems with it at all. We actually did our whole website and RSVP process through them. I only had a few people order gifts from the registry (because 90% gave us cash) but it notified me once a gift was purchased. It also gave me the option of sending the gift right away or waiting to send it. From our experience, we didn't have any problems at all - but we also had no need to contact customer service for anything.

I actually ended up with Joy, but my friends have used both! One friend set up her registry on both to see which one she liked better and ended up picking Zola, another used The Knot just because she liked their RSVP and website designs better. I used Joy because of the website design and all the RSVP options, and because it'll let you set up a cash fund gift that goes to your Paypal or Venmo or whatever you want instead of them paying 2.5% or whatever it is to go through Honeyfund and all the others.

I used The Knot for my website and registry and had no issues. My SIL used Zola and actually didn't like it at all. Apparently a few guests bought them something off the registry but instead of sending my SIL the gift, Zola told her the item was out of stock and gave her purchase credit. She wasn't a fan as she felt this was disingenuous and she also would have preferred to be alerted that the item became out of stock. And this happened a few times.
