Registry Advice

Lindsaylee, on November 18, 2021 at 3:48 PM Posted in Registry 1 4

Hello,

I have started making a registry but not sure what to add to it? I have things that I always wanted to have like blender but what else should I add? What is appropriate to add or what is not appropriate to put in registry?

Thank you.

We had an instant pot, new dishes (he didn't want to use my antiques and I didn't like his bachelor dishes lol), upgraded towels, a food saver - that kind of thing. We also included board games and some other fun things that we could do together.

You want to include a multitude of price points and generally you're going to put on household items or things you can both use/enjoy. (So a new vacuum is appropriate, but a new pair of shoes isn't lol.)

If you've just purchased a house or like to DIY projects, you can totally add some tools to your list as well!
My friends just moved in together about a month ago and their wedding is in 2 months, so they registered for replacements for his bachelor stuff and her college dorm/sorority house stuff. They registered for plates, a utensil holder, board games that can be played at a party or with 2 players, dog bowls for their pups (the first things to get purchased, lol), decor items for their guest bathroom, bedding for the master, all that jazz.

My FH and I will have lived together for 4 years by the time we get married and we have almost everything we need. I put stuff for entertaining and hosting on our registry (red and white wine glasses, a decanter, wooden platters, glasses -we only have 4 that match right now, sheets for a guest room, and silverware) and stuck to cash funds for the rest.

Lots of the registry builders have checklists built in for common items that couples register for! It's like Becky said - if you'll both be able to use it it's pretty much fair game. One couple we know registered for camping gear and REI gift cards, another registered for tools and Home Depot gift cards because they just bought a home that needed some work. You get to tailor your list to what represents you both as a couple!

I definitely recommend looking at a registry builder or checklist so you can see what you already have and what would be nice to have!! You can also go to some retail stores in person and scan items in the store to add them to your registry - we did this at one store (Sur La Table) and I thought it was really fun!
