My FH and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to start our registry, well it took 2 hours and we barely got anywhere so now we have an appointment to go back. This first appointment she was helpful with dish selection however when we went out into the store she was very pushy about things and FH and I felt we couldn't discuss things to put on the registry and we really wanted to just be given a scanner and to be left alone but that wasn't it at all, it stressed me out! Has anyone had an experience like this or were you able to go off alone (with FH) to pick things out without a salesperson and how can we address that? I also heard of maybe an app that would allow us to scan what we want ourselves but I'm not sure if that was BB&B. Help would be great!

Ours was awesome! She helped us with dishes then let us run free and just checked in every once in a while.

When we went to BBB to do our registry, we just said thank you we are all set and if we need help, we will come find you. We both hate "hovering" and the lady was giving me anxiety lol!!! She got my vibe, luckily and backed the heck off.

    Edit for spelling error.

We told the guy we wanted to go around on our own. He did lurk in the knife section watching us though.

We had the same issue. I finally asked the woman for the scanner, thanked her for her help so far, we really just wanted to wander around and told her if we had any questions we would come find her. She went away lol

I started and maintained our registry online. We went in-store a couple of times to see things in-person but didn't work with a consultant. Scanning with the app was a piece of cake.

I picked out what I wanted online from several stores and put it on one registry. I don't have time or the inclination to actually go to the store.

I heard this happens to a lot of people so I told them from the beginning of our appointment we want to scan ourselves and be left alone and they were fine with it, they checked in with us about every 15 minutes which was perfect because usually by then we had a question or two. They didn't seem taken aback by us wanting to do it ourselves either, I think you just have be honest about it.

We registered at BB&B and it took as an hour into our appointment to even get up from the meeting desk and start scanning!! FH was already irritated by the time we stood up and left me halfway through to get food. Lol

All together it took us 3 hours and we didn't even register for that much!!

After reading about situations like this, I chose not to register at BB&B.

You can use your phone as a scanner. You don't even have to talk to them or tell them what your doing. I also did this at Macy's and Target. The "scanner" they give you at target is actually just an iphone in a rubber case anyway.

I literally walked it and they handed me a scanner and left me alone. I'm not sure why they wouldn't leave you alone.

We went at first to a registry event there after their store closed. It was with a bunch of other couples who all looked like they hated their lives and were pissed to be there. FH and I had some champagne before going, so we had fun. Though we did only go for an hour and we did go online later to remove things. We went back to the store another day and just asked for a scanner and told the dude we were going by ourselves. Then after researching a bunch of shit online like for our pots and pans we just made updates online.

We had a similar issue and I told them that we were fine and would come find them if we needed help. They were kind of pushy with the china and pot sets. I just explained to them that I have Emeril cookware in both stainless and non stick , Emeril knives that have not had to be sharpened in 10 yrs and I was not upgrading. Also my friend was a Pampered Chef dealer so I really did not NEED much in the kitchen. They left us alone after that.

I almost deleted my entire registry due to our pushy person. The lady made a big deal because I refused to register for a deviled egg tray. My FH hates them so i didnt see the point of it taking up space. Her reaction was the straw that broke the camels back. I ended up deleting 80% of what i scanned due to her pressuring me. Khols and Target let you go on your own

When we went they gave us the choice between just going on your own, having someone go with us to the areas people typically want/need advice (cookware, knives, etc) and then wandering with the scanner, or having the consultant go with us to do everything.

We went with the second and found it helpful but it did feel almost like the salesperson had a script
