Registry for out of state couple

Sara, on December 1, 2019 at 4:17 PM Posted in Registry 0 3

We are getting married in Oklahoma and live in Atlanta. Has anyone registered out of state and run into problems with guests shipping to your address? In the event that guests do bring a gift to the wedding, did you just ship it yourself to your out of state home?

We had them shipped to my ILs house (we got married near them). I might have had them shipped to our home but we don't have a secure place for deliveries and having shipping to my office could have been problematic bc there were some hefty items.

We used Zola for our registry!! it allows your guests to purchase it and then have it shipped to you when you choose to have it shipped.

Live in Oklahoma but am getting married in SC In April. We also are using Zola. Had a few gifts so far from the engagement party shipped to us. I like Zola so far and the site makes it easy. We also have our wedding website thru Zola and linked to an Amazon registry (but noone’s shipped anything from there yet). My FILs will be driving to the wedding so we’re planning on them taking gifts back (were are unsure if driving yet or flying) if people due. Ours is a DW for 90% of the guests so I doubt we’ll have very many hand delivered unless it’s a card. If most of your guests are in Oklahoma I’d just be very clear only gifts by mail accepted (I think on your wedding website you can just put a simple line indicating that bride/groom prefer shipped gifts and that due to travel plans, hand delivered gifts will be delayed to the bride/groom). That would deter me if I thought about bringing one rather than shipping.
