Registry idea

Tiffany, on July 6, 2020 at 9:48 PM Posted in Registry 0 5
I had to postpone my weddimg twice due to covid-19. We are now having our wedding next year. We moved in our new home 9 months ago expecting to be married a few months later. I held out purchasing items for the home so i could put them on our registry. Now that we have to wait another year to have the wedding, I am starting to need alot of the items on my registry and want to start purchasing them. I know our guest will want give gifts but I am afraid by next year I will not need any typical registry items like toasters and blenders lol. My mother in law paid for our honeymoon so there is no need for a honeymoon fund. We have several unfinished rooms and a unfinished basement that we want to complete after the wedding, I was considering doing a "basement construction fund" similar to how people have honeymoon funds. This would actually help us out verses asking for items we dont need and will sit in storage....I am hoping that when people come visit us in the future they will know they played a part in getting us started as we want to make our basement a place where we entertain our family and friends when they visit.

Yes the gift cards are a great idea! I also knew a couple two years back who registered at Menards since they were doing a lot of work in their home at the time, so if they still offer registry that might be a good option too, for specific items you might want to use in your renovation projects.

Along with the gift card idea, you could also opt to not register. People know that cash is a good gift. If they don't see a physical registry (and often, even if they do), they will more than likely gift cash or a check at the wedding.

    THIS.

We had a substantial registry, and even a honeymoon fund... and people still gave us cash/checks. Which was great, then we could buy what we wanted off the registry, and used the cash on our honeymoon!
