Registry ideas?

Rachel, on January 3, 2020 at 3:52 PM Posted in Registry 0 12
Hi everyone!

I started a registry for us on amazon & linked it to our wedding website. Originally I didn’t think we would be having any engagement/bridal showers but now we are; we have 3-4 gifts on the registry that are over $150 dollars and the rest are $75 or less (maybe 37 gifts total). We got some of these gifts from our family for Christmas. I am going to register at a boutique for some serving pieces by a local pottery, but am thinking of adding some type of “fund” onto the registry too... We won’t be taking a honeymoon until our 1 year anniversary and currently have our own house. So what could it be called..? 🤔 Thanks for any help!

You could add various gift cards to your Amazon registry! Restaurants, Airbnb, Visa gift cards, or just Amazon gift cards Smiley smile

Okay thanks! I wasn’t sure if that was seen as “tacky” to ask for specific gift cards. I LOVE Kirkland’s and home decor stores haha

FH and I have lived together for many years - our daughter will be 5 next week - we are having a small registry (new frames, little things like decor or upgrades for those who are traditional and like to give actual gifts) and also gift cards

Thanks for those little poems! Yeah I had someone say “well you live together, you shouldn’t need anything”... uh yes we do still need somethings 😂 Luckily my grandmother gave me her China and every day dinnerware when she moved out of her home but there’s definitely still things we need!

I just wouldn't do a fund, especially since you don't have anything that you specifically want it for. Since you have a smaller registry, once those items are purchased, people will default to cash gifts.

I know you can also register for Southwest Airlines gift cards on amazon. We asked for a few of them on our registry. Also Bed Bath & Beyond has a section in the registry for “experiences that are pretty sweet. We are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon and so we registered for a catamaran sunset tour and a Kawaii Helicopter tour. Once it’s purchased you just have to redeem and schedule.

If your registry is already small, either register for a couple more items, or just leave it at that. People will just gift money. You don't have to make a fund--many, including myself, find it quite tacky to just ask for money... and those poems actually make it even a bit more cringey.

It's so much easier on everyone (including you and FH) to leave your registry as-is or simply add a few more items. You'll likely receive money from those who don't buy off the registry in time/at all.

Yeah, I didn’t understand why they assumed that just because we live together we have everything we need

It's the the adulting assuming way I guess. I always ask. That's if it's not on any invites. My Bestie (MOH) is the go 2 for that. I think it's way old fashioned sometimes too. LOL like people are afraid..... stubborn to just ask plainly!🤣
