Registry price point

Jennifer, on November 2, 2019 at 5:35 PM Posted in Registry 0 7
I made a registry with Macys. When I did, everything was on this crazy sale and the price point was affordable on most items. I'm not sure what happened but NOTHING is on sale anymore. My bedding is back up to $800 and it was originally $200 (the most pricey item). A vase I liked was about $70 and now its $140. I also put $10 items on there and every item is about $30+ now. Is it normal for them to fluctuate like that? I feel awful! Thankfully no one is really needing the registry right away but I don't want to look like a greedy brat either!

I wouldn't expect anything on sale now to still be on sale in April. We chose the items on our registry based on their normal price, not sale price. That way, if they did go on sale, it was just a pleasant surprise.

Most of my stuff is lenox type items. Stuff that has been around for like thirty plus years. My grandma had the same stuff! I guess I was just shocked at a $600 price increase. I mean that must have been a really good sale! I went back on and everything is on sale again as usual. I've never seen Macys without a sale so maybe my computer glitched? Who knows.

They can shop sales and get the same or better deal later.

You can always update your registry. Besides, a lot of times people will go in on a larger gift (as in the $800 bedding) so I wouldn’t remove it just because the sale price is gone. Sales always come back too, and especially with Black Friday around the corner I wouldn’t worry about it.

I made my Macy’s registry this summer and the prices have been fluctuating since then especially around different holidays. I’m sure there will be a sale for Veterans Day wkend. I have a variety of items on Macy’s at different price points though so people can choose what they want to spend. I also made an amazon registry to give people an option but Macy’s seems to be more popular.

I will sometimes look at a registry and select an item and then look for a better price somewhere else.

Macy's constantly has sales (and coupons). I'd expect anyone who has ever shopped retail will realize that and will know to shop during sales when big-ticket items are often more than 50% off the nonsale price. Daughter's registries were at Macy's and Kohl's; on both the prices fluctuated wildly from day-to-day. Between the shower and a few boxed gifts at the wedding, daughter received just about everything on both registries.

When we were in the store working on daughter's Macy's registry, our consultant was interrupted by another customer who was clearly driving the consultant crazy. After the customer left, the consultant told us it was a bride's mom who insisted on taking the daughter's registry on- and off-line every time the sale prices ended (often Monday-Wednesday) because she "didn't want guests to pay full-price." The consultant just rolled her eyes....
