Registry Pricing?

Quinton, on August 11, 2020 at 3:56 PM Posted in Registry 0 16

So I am going thru and starting my wedding registry and I need some opinions! what is a good price range for gifts?like I don't want a ton of like 5-10$ items but I feel like having a bunch of 100-200$ items is asking too much? what do you consider a range of prices?

I did a registry through amazon and it gave you guidelines on how many gifts in which price ranges.

I read this on the Knot - it sounded interesting as it allowed multiple people to chip in to pay for items on your registry

Don't feel like you can only register for china and flatware. These days it's not about the stuff you might need but about getting what you really want. With our new Universal Registry tool, you can register for literally whatever you want, from wherever you want. In general, popular retailers and registry platforms (like ours!) are making it easier for couples to celebrate your new life together in other ways—think: honeymoon adventures, camping equipment and fancy date night dinners. It's also easier for multiple guests to group-gift expensive items, be it a spa day on your honeymoon or a new appliance for your home.

I tried to keep mine on the cheap side but a lot of my guests actually asked me to put pricier things on there. I tried to keep the range between $50 and $150. I think most people do plan to spend close to $100 or more at a shower

Our Bed Bath and Beyond registry has the same thing as Molly posted. I would say most of the things we registered for were between $30-75 with a handful under $20 and just a couple over $100.

I had items ranging in all different prices. I think it is totally fine to have items ranging from a couple dollars to about $200-300. It will give your guests plenty of options to chose from based on their price range.

It depends on where you live, how well established most of your guests are, and whether you expect to have a shower. I normally spend about $40-70 on a shower gift and $100-150ish on a wedding gift depending on how close I am to the couple, so I used that as the range for most things. I also included some random kitchen utensils and I tried to include things as individual pieces instead of sets as much as possible, so people with lower budgets or who wanted to buy multiple items would have options. We only had a few things that were more expensive and we included them as group gift options.

We have Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond, so similar to PP, it basically guides you on how many gifts you should add for various price ranges. The Bed Bath and Beyond one also has selections by room/category (Bedding, Kitchen, Appliances, etc), which makes adding things much easier. I think ours has mainly in the $50-$100 range, with a handful of things going above that and even fewer things in the $250+ range. It definitely depends on the type of guests - a lot of younger folk probably can't afford anything more than $50, but your grandparents or aunts/uncles maybe want to go a little higher.

I think having a range of prices is best. Depending on where you register, you can add items on your list under a “group fund” or something like that where your friends can all contribute to a more expensive gift without paying for the entire thing. I know Crate & Barrel has this option. (I registered for an expensive knife set this way.) Best wishes to you!!!

Have a variety in between those prices. Every guest has their own budget and will decide what they can afford. There is no "average" because every guest is different

I had a wide range and someone actually chose the most expensive item to gift us with which was curved tv. I put it on the registry thinking I could buy it with the 20% coupon they give once it's finished but nope someone bought it. So you never know.

We have a large range of prices, as we have an IKEA registry a lot of the items are furniture. Granted, its IKEA furniture so not very pricey, but still. Most of our guests are my parents friends who are well off and often give large gifts, so we felt it was ok to have more expensive options. However, we also have a target registry with nothing over 150$ with a ton of different options. Gift card options are also great too if you are having trouble because even a few $5 gift cards to your favorite fast food can be a great gift! (At least for me because I love food lmao)

We had a wide range. Anywhere from $10 - $400. Most stores/registries give you the option to have guests split the cost of items to group gift. Surprisingly, our more expensive gifts were purchased first.

Ours ranges from like $10-$100, FH doesn't want us to include things he feels we could buy ourselves & knows no one will buy us, but places like Target (and I believe Amazon) give discounts for you in the end so you can purchase those more expensive items for a cheaper price. This is my main goal for adding bigger things onto our registries. We also included gift cards for those who just wanted to give us money & didn't want to hand us cash. If you're still uncomfortable, I say go no higher than $100, sometimes people do want to spend money on you for your start together.

I think this depends on your guests/community. The bulk of my registry is in the $100-200 price range (lowest is $10, highest is $425), but we have a small number of guests who I know will be spending more on gifts. We also have items for much lower price points because it is important to have options.
