Registry Regrets?

Melanie, on January 24, 2021 at 12:07 AM Posted in Registry 1 8

Saw a comment on this so figured I'd ask! For the girls who are already married on here, are there any kitchen/household items you really wish you had put on your registry that you didn't realize you wanted/needed at the time? I hear vacuum all the time, anything else? Any common registry items that you haven't used at all?

Man I wish I asked for an instant pot instead of a slow cooker!

I got an Instant pot but barely use it. I think it's because I haven't totally figured out what all the different buttons mean and I'm not a very patient person.

Learn how to use it. Once you do it is life changing.

Don’t ask for fancy China. You will not use it. I didn’t put any on my registry (I’m legally married but we have had to postpone twice and our reception is in December) and the grandparents keep asking us what “fancy China” we want. I keep telling them none. It will sit in the box unused. I don’t want to have to panic like Monica if a plate gets chipped. I also don’t have a curio cabinet to put it it and won’t be getting one.

Our registry was small and only consisted of things we truly needed. Upgraded plates (not expensive, but matching set), towels, sheets. More everyday glasses. New vacuum, immersion blender, Vitamix, waffle maker/panini press combo, Pyrex storage set, nice cutting board. Basically, anything I wanted to buy myself for our home over our two year engagement, I put on the registry. This was great because when we went from a 200+ person wedding to a 9 person wedding due to the pandemic (and therefore didn’t receive as many gifts), I was able to use our registry completion discount to buy the items I was already planning on buying. There are still some items on our Crate and Barrel registry that I haven’t purchased yet, so if anyone asks about a registry for our November reception, it’ll be there, but if they don’t, I’ll be able to buy those items as I need them.

Not married yet but backing the instant pot idea. Alyssa is right, it's life changing. I use mine for like 6/7 meals per week. No joke. I love it, it makes cooking so fast and is so easy.

Check Amazon flash deals, they’re not that expensive. And totally worth every penny.
