I think thats how we are going to include ours as well with the save the dates not the invitations and we are doing a few options since we have family all over the country. So doing amazon and destination type things as well as asking for deposits toward our vendors. We chose this since we already bought a home 2yrs ago and did a housewarming where we got alot of the staple "home" registry items.

We started our registry in July and our wedding is in February, but I knew the shower was going to be November. FH and I went into BBB and did a base registry. Pots and pans and kitchen electronics. And then to Macy's for bedding and fine china. Some stuff I needed to see in person, but all the in between stuff I added online. I found that it helped to look at other couples registries.

My staple was a good quality cookware set. I use them so often and wanted it to be dependable.

Just did our registries this weekend! 4 months out. Something folks kept warning us about was items going out of stock or being discontinued if you are registering many months in advance, something to think about planning a year out.

I definitely thought this was going to be about registering at the office supply store. No lie, I'm a little disappointed.

Honestly I started looking like the day after he proposed because I was so excited to do something. Get things you will actually use (most websites that I've looked at have suggested lists, but a lot of those things will probably never be touched so just use them as a guideline to start). We're doing actual matching plates, glass sets, a few upgraded kitchen appliances, matching towels, that kind of stuff (basically I want our kitchen to not look like we are still poor college students and not to be using towels/pillows that I've had since I was 10).

Put an instant pot on whatever registry you do. I got one for my shower and I don't know how I've lived without one for so long. I will tell everyone I know from now on to get one or register for one!

Excuse me did I just see someone post that they are "asking for deposits toward our vendors," because that certainly tops the poor decision list to include cash bar and the dreaded honey fund...

In regards to your question OP, staples for me where kitchen items. FH and I have lived together a year, will be two when we marry - but our entire kitchen less our Keurig is hand me downs from his parents and my grandparents. We are trying to upgrade to some nice stuff - especially because I love to bake and cook. Hope to one day host holidays at my house with all the pretty matchy stuff I registered for!!

We did out registry in September and our wedding is next October. Make sure you get kitchen stuff for hosting dinners and party's and odds and ends that you may need like peeler or an apple cutter. Stuff like that.

It depends on whether or not you have a base of goods between the two of you. We needed good quality cookware, dishes, and towels so we started with those. I had a basic blender, but I used it everyday to make protein shakes, so we also added a Ninja blender and food processor. That was a must-have for us.
