Registry Suggestions!

Izzy, on April 18, 2020 at 11:00 PM Posted in Registry 0 6
Putting the registry together, this will be my FH and I’s first time moving away from home so we’re truly starting fresh. Any new home necessity must-haves I should consider? Also, any fun, silly, or just out-there ideas to put on the registry? 😆

Hmmmmm ... since it’s your first home you’ll need flatware, knife set, air fryer, pot set, comforter set, bake ware, flour/sugar/pasta/rice jar set, mixing bowls, stemware, shot glasses, mugs, Tupperware, towel set, sheets, and toothbrush holder, soap dispenser.

A vacuum! Double sets of sheets to have a clean set while you wash the dirty set. Anything you find yourself always using at your current houses (baking items if you bake a lot, etc). I would register for a quality Dutch oven and cast iron skillet as they come in handy for a lot of dishes. We’re registered for a fireproof safe to store our important documents in. It’s always good to have a small tool set available (different sized Phillips and flat head screwdrivers, wrenches, a hammer). A couple little extras we added were a few movies (FH loves his movies), a nice luggage set, and a Yeti cooler.

Since most stores are closed right now and you can't get help from a store consultant, I would actually go to other couple's public wedding websites and browse their public registry. You'll get an idea of what comes up frequently and also some ideas of things that aren't "common," but useful to you.

Aside from the "essentials," we also put some fun stuff on ours. We have board games, items that have our colleges' logos on them (car trunk organizer, coasters, etc), and hobby-related items. We figured our families may purchase the practical home items, while our friends may be more open to purchasing the nontraditional registry items. Besides, you'll get a coupon/discount code to purchase registry items yourselves after the wedding, so put whatever you like!

I agree with the basics everyone said. Amazon has really nice registry guidance that I found useful and bed bath and beyond. For fun ideas you could add some outdoor stuff on your registry, either garden stuff or fun party stuff like games, chairs, tiki torches, grill accessories etc. I also reccomend good quality towels so I'd wait until stores are open to find ones you look. Luggage sets or anything you might want for your honeymoon and coolers are great ideas too.
    Have fun with it!

When I registered at Target it had a checklist of all the items you could possibly need. While most didn't apply to us because we have lived independently for many years, it might be helpful for you to at least look at, even if you don't end up registering there. Good luck!

Most websites have a checklist, like Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Think about what kinds of things you use on a regular basis: do you need that for when you move in together or can you bring the one you currently use (such as pots, pans, etc.). One thing I will definitely say: you need more casual place settings then you think. When we originally moved in together, we bought service for 4. We don't really entertain so we were like "oh, 4 plates and 4 spoons ect is enough for 2 people." It isn't. I was so happy when we got our 12 person silverware set. No more running out of clean forks!
