It's fine to not register. However, I saw in a previous post that you are having a bridal shower/bachelorette combo. The purpose of the shower is to "shower the bride with gifts," so if you don't register, guests won't know what to get you. So you may end up with a bunch of stuff you don't want. You can make a small registry of upgrades you could use. If you don't want the gift part of the shower, another option is to call it a bridal luncheon instead.

If you’re having a shower you should. I am not (I’m 62 and second marriage) but I had people ask for one. Sign up for stuff you like and will use.

Yea it’s fine not to! Sometimes people don’t even get you stuff on the registry anyway

It's always optional. Be aware if you don't register, people will buy you non-cash gifts you don't want and can't return anywhere.

If you have a shower, yes you’ll need one. If you don’t have a shower you don’t have to have one. Most people will probably gift cash at the wedding if you don’t have one. But be aware some people will just buy you things you don’t want if you don’t have a registry lol. Personally I am a big believer in always having a small registry at least. That way, when there are some people who are dead set on buying you a tangible gift, at least they’ll get you something you want.

I agree with what others said! Me and my fiance technically have all we need since we're both independent adults, so our registry has things that are mostly upgrades for things we have some version of already. I personally added things that you see in Target and want but don't need... this is the time for that!
We also just added a list of things we like and we will use to our registry and wedding page, like coffee, tea, candles etc. People will buy you things so it's good to give people at least clues of what you want! I know some other people also put something on their registry or website saying they'd love a donation to X charity in their name in lieu of gifts.

I second all of this! The other thing about a registry is that if people use it properly, it usually marks off what has already been purchased. Otherwise you run the risk of getting 4 of something you really only need one of (like the 4 toasters my friend got)
