Registry

My fiancé's Mom has a close set of friends that will be throwing us a shower in his home town. I love her to death and she is fabulous, but she is suggesting we create a separate registry for this event. We already have our wedding registry, which is listed on our website. It seems to complicate things to me to have a completely separate registry for this shower? I like the idea that guests have to go to our website to see the registry. It’s like a visual reminder to rsvp (which we are doing thru our site).

the theme of this is “honey do” so they are wanting everyone to get home improvement/grill items. Maybe I just create a Zola registry, which I don’t have right now) and put these type of items on it?

Any thoughts?

What types of items are on your registry, and do you actually need these "honey do" items? You could do Zola, or maybe add some additional items on your registry that fit this theme. I kind of have a few thoughts... if you don't actually need these items, but they are going to buy items for this theme regardless it might be better to have an actual list of things that you would enjoy so they aren't going crazy off registry. Having this as a separate registry not on your website if these aren't things that you actually need would prevent other guests from getting ahold of it.

Maybe see if like Home Depot can do a registry? Anyone who owns a home, condo, or has a yard can definitely get use from many many Home Depot items.

The point of the registry is to use it for all the events.
Do you need these honey do items? If so just put them on the registry, if not maybe politely explain you won't use them.

All great feedback! I think i’ll Just add a Zola registry so we can put items from like Home Depot, and a few others theme appropriate item that aren’t on our primary registries (west elm/William Sonoma, amazon and Honeyfund).
That way people can also have the option to go off theme and buy off our other registries too.

I would just keep the same registry, maybe add to it for the shower then take them off after?
