Registry

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to figure out the best time to open a registry. Our wedding is in April 2021, so I was not planning on starting the registry until October of 2020. My FMIL told me today that her side of the family plans on hosting a bridal shower this coming summer and she would like for me to start my registry ASAP. Is it too early to start a registry? Also, where did you register? TIA❤️

This summer is extremely early to host a shower for an April 2021 wedding. There's really no such thing as "too early" to start your registry, but it will just create more work for you since many items will go out of stock or be discontinued in such a long period of time.

I got my first registry gift a few weeks before my shower and most of the gifts the week of my wedding

Like PP said, there's no time too early per say, but there will be a lot of things that get discontinued or go in and out of stock.

I started our registry really early and it has been a little bit of a nightmare because some of my favorite things have gone out of stock haha.

I login once a month just to alter it to make sure I don't have a ton of discontinued items! Once we hit my bridal shower I'll stop altering it Smiley smile

I completely agree that it is too early and I really don’t want to worry about discontinued items so I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks!

We started our registry when we started our website. So roughly 1 1/2 years out from our wedding. We ended up getting Christmas gifts from our registry. Haha.

I created my registry over a year out. It worked for me since I was still in training at a new job and had too much down time before I was officially set up with access to programs needed. Most retailers will let you know what is discontinued so you can update it as you go and I appreciated being able to go back after my scan happy days and clear things out. Some days you get excited and add things you don’t really need. I opted to have my wedding website password protected so the information wasn’t public too early but it was technically live. I took the password off when I sent the save the dates.
