Regret in not postponing?

Kristina, on June 17, 2020 at 10:14 PM Posted in Community Conversations 2 7
Hey all! It’s getting to be the time where me and my fiancé have to make a choice of whether or not to postpone our wedding or go forward with it and have restrictions in place. People would probably be asked to wear masks and to socially distance themselves, but we could probably still keep our 120 guests since we would be outside. I’m still unsure about what to do so I was wondering if there is anyone that went through with as close to their original plan with guests as they could and regretted not have a small ceremony and holding a reception at a later date when things feel safer. Thanks!

I have the same concerns. I would hate to have regrets because it’s not the day I envisioned.

We’re starting to feel the stress! We either have to cut guests to meet the 50% capacity requirements for the space we reserved or reserve a larger space that’s less appealing.

Also FH doesn’t want to wear a mask 🤦‍♀️. I get it, and I feel like we wouldn’t have to during the ceremony, but with being in close proximity of others, we should.

It's really uncertain with what's going on. I've seen brides on here who already had to postpone 2, 3 times because of it. I know its hard and no one can give a definitive answer but if you truly still want the day you envision, you can always go to the courthouse until things blow over and then have the wedding you want. I know it's probably not ideal but it's definitely an option. I'm sure whichever route you go (postpone or not) it's still going to be super special.

So we're scheduled for 9/19/2020 and we're really moving towards postponing now. Our city moved us to phase 2 the first week of June and then retracted it 3 days later because there was a spike in cases 🤦🏾‍♀️ The social gathering law here is still only 10 people so we can't do anything with that smh; we have 120 guest count. We were able to plan the wedding we actually wanted and I don't want anything less so we'll be pushing it back a whole 6 months unfortunately. We thought about eloping and the court house route but it's truly not something we want to do. I think we'd regret the decision of going to the court house so we'll just wait.

Hi Kristina! Most of the weddings that have been shared so far have been lower guest count since they were happened with stricter restrictions in place, but here are a few discussions I've seen from people who are pushing through with their current plans:

    Anyone not postponing?

    Brides who waited it out
