Regret

Candace, on August 12, 2020 at 12:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I’m suffering from dress regret bad! *sighhh* the more I see it the more I don’t like it! I love the shape and the material just not the beading! I’m hoping since I only put a deposit I can try on others and put my deposit towards that instead.
Did anyone else suffer from dress regret?
I have tried to talk my self out of it for months now and I just can’t! That’s how I know mine is not **THE DRESS**

I had dress envy rather than dress regret. But if you have not actually pay for the full dress yet then yeah maybe you should ask if you can put the money towards some thing else

I had a bit of dress regret, and still kind of do. I bought mine after thinking about it for a week, and then had no regrets until about a month before it was supposed to arrive. I got really nervous about it not fitting right, and also afraid of not liking the final shape. Once I received the dress, it fit pretty well (and was even a little big in some areas), though I still had concerns about the shape. My seamstress said she is able to change the skirt shape for me, which helped a lot because I love the dress material and pretty much everything else about it.

If you're able to get store credit and cancel your current dress, go for it! Otherwise, if it's too late to cancel the order, I recommend talking to a seamstress to see if they can change the parts of the dress that you don't like. If it's the beading, maybe some of it can be removed/replaced with something else?

It’s a satin dress having the beading removed will ruin the material unfortunately. It’s a small bridal shop in my area privately owned so I’m really just hoping she’ll let me put my deposit towards another dress. It hasn’t been altered or anything yet to fit me. It’s comforting to know that other women suffer from this feeling to and I’m not crazy lol I feel like I was excited and it was the shape I was looking for and I just jumped the gun! I should have known better I hve never been a fan of beading so I’m not even surprised I’m sitting here with these thoughts now.

Oh, I see. I hope you're able to return your dress!! If you contact her soon, you'll likely have a better chance of cancelling the order. Otherwise, you can always try to sell it online to make some money back on it. You aren't crazy! From what I've heard, dress regret is fairly common.

In any case, everything will work out somehow! Fingers crossed that you're able to return it for a different dress!

I ended up with three different dresses. The original one we have been trying to sell. The second one I planned on wearing until a month before the wedding when I went shopping for a short dress for the after party. I fell in love with the third dress so I had the second one shortened. I can tell you the bridal shop I got the first dress from wouldn't work with us at all. They hadn't even ordered the dress when we asked them to cancel the order. They refused. We asked if we could put the money towards bridesmaids and mother of bride/groom dresses and they also said no to that. They proceeded to order the dress knowing we didn't want it. My mom recently gave the dress to a local bridal shop to try to sell it on consignment.

I suffered from dress regret. I’m a curvy girl and became very overwhelmed and kind of sad during dress shopping, so the first one that I put on that all of my family loved and was in my price range ... I purchased it. Two days later, I had buyer’s remorse. The store usually had a no return policy, but thank God she let me exchange it and I got the dress that I wanted!!

That’s really awesome they were able to do that for you. I feel like my decision was influenced by everyone’s reaction too. Thankfully I only put a deposit and that it was actually a discontinued floor model so she’s letting me come in and look at other options and put my deposit towards one I really want.

Your gut is right more often than not. If you don't love the dress, contact the store to see what the cancellation policy is.

I emailed her shortly after I made this post and she’s letting me come in and try other dresses and put my deposit towards one I love. I’m also only going to bring my sister with me this time because it’s easy for me to be a people pleaser and go with what everyone else loves rather then me.
