Regretted Tattoo with My Low Back Dress

Emly, on March 11, 2020 at 10:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 25

So to start out; when I was younger I got this back tattoo that at the time thought I really loved it and never imaged myself regretting it.. LOL well I do Smiley xd Now to be fair I don't think that its awful, I think it is still a beautiful, simple and small tattoo.. but the meaning of it is what I don't really connect with anymore.. Its not something that I want people asking me about on my wedding day or having it seen in pictures.

I am in the process of working with my tattoo artist to get my current one covered up with something that truly has so much meaning to me (it relates to my FH and our first house and all of our adventures). It is within my budget to get it done before the wedding so that is a possibility. But the cover up would be larger and I just don't know if i want my tattoo to be seen at all.. also my grandma would be even more upset about a bigger tattoo on show lol

So my options here:

Just leave my tattoo as is and just embrace it since its small enough where people may not notice it

Get my cover up tattoo that actually means so much to me but tick my grandma off that i have a bigger tattoo on my back Smiley xd

Find a way to cover it up with makeup (if you've done this let me know how/what/did it stain your dress?? give me the deats!)

I'll post some pics below - What do you think??

I would cover it up with makeup or leave it as is, but I'm leaning towards covering it up since you aren't going to want to see it in your pictures that you're going to be looking at forever! Then you can still get the bigger tattoo coverup after the wedding Smiley smile

I've seen covering it up done, but I would consult whomever is doing your bridal makeup. They may be able to airbrush it out and blend it into your skin tone! My cousin had to do that with some wrist tattoos that she didn't want showing on her day.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I just think of it as, it may not be who you are now, but it reflects where you've been and what led you to be who you are today.

I would not get it covered up with a bigger tattoo. The current one is so small and discreet, and that horizonal line goes well with the cut of your dress. A bigger tat would look half covered up by the dress, which would be a more awkward look

Might be easier to get it lasered off, just once or twice to lighten it, then cover up with makeup if it bothers you

I wouldn’t worry about it either but if you wanna cover it up then 100% consult a make up artist. I went to sephora and asked a make up artist there and she did a sample on my arm tattoo to show me what products are best to use

For the time being i would just cover it up with makeup. Dermacol makeup works really good just make sure to set it so your dress doesn't get foundation all over it. Or you could leave it be, i think its cute and small!

I Think You Should Leave It As Is To Avoid Getting Makeup On Your Dress By Covering it Up.

Personally, I would leave it showing instead of using makeup to cover it up. Is that the side your audience will see? If so and you want to avoid them/grandma seeing, maybe switch sides for standing at the altar?

You can always ask the photographer to edit the tatt out of the pictures!

I love it but I’m overly tattooed and my dress shows off my back tattoos so to me it’s beautiful and and expression of you. But ultimately the decision is yours and only yours don’t let others concerns and judgment make you over think it.

I would say leave it or cover with makeup. Hold off on the new tatt idea until after the wedding!!

I honestly don’t think anyone will really notice it. It’s small and like someone else said it goes with the line of your dress. I don’t think anyone will ask you about it at your wedding.

The tattoo is really small and it doesn't look wrong so you could just leave it. I don't think guests will notice it. You can also ask your photographer to edit out the pictures.

If you don't like it that much you can cover it up with make up. But in my opinion don't go with a coverup tattoo. Its your big day you should feel comfortable and not worried about anything like this.

There are makeup artists that literally have "tattoo cover-up" as a service. I have no idea what that entails but it's a thing. I'm sure they put some type of sealant over it but i'd put some tape on the inside of your dress to avoid makeup rubbing off on it. Personally, I think it looks fine as is so only cover it if it will make you feel better. I would not do the cover up tattoo right now, though.

I had no idea my tattoo would show so much in my dress, I didn't realize it until I put it on for the wedding day hahahaha! I love my tattoo (it's for my brother and he got one for me) but I got it when I was 18. If I got it now, it would be WAY smaller and not as big (there are 2 lines you can't even see in the dress). My dad knew I had it, but had never seen it before and he hates tattoos. On the wedding day, I thought about it for maybe 5 seconds then not until I saw the pictures. I was totally fine and it didn't bother me. I probably wouldn't get a bigger tattoo before the wedding and you could cover it if you find an experienced makeup artist, but you probably won't notice it because a lot of your pictures you'll face forward!

I’m not sure how much time you have but I’m actually in the process of getting a large shoulder/back tattoo removed specifically for the wedding. It’s expensive and painful and I’ve been getting treatments for 7 months and still have more to go but it’s an option!

Cover up with makeup!! There are so many great products to do this. Kat Von D has a good one, Dermablend works. There are several airbrush styled makeup. If using an alcohol based it won’t sweat off or rub off on your dress.
