Regretting Dress Color :(

Breyonce, on February 7, 2017 at 11:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 46

I remember gasping when I tried my dress on the first time! It was beautiful! Of course I went to 4 other shops and tried on other dresses, but none of them made me gasp so I knew that was the one! The dress I tried on had ivory lace on top and underneath the lace is a blush/champagne color. Before I decided to buy it, I went through the pictures we took and it started to look too pink in some angles, so I decided I wanted to be more classical than trendy so I ordered it in all ivory. That was about 3 weeks ago, but I've been looking at it more and more and I'm starting to like the blush/champagne option again! I don't know what to do and from anyone's experience do you think it's too late to change the color IF I should? The store said it won't arrive until May, if that helps?

Here's where it's too pink to me.

Can we see a picture of the dress? Its hard to give advice on what you should do without actually seeing it

Yeah I second pictures. I can't figure out how something can be blush and champagne at the same time? Sounds cool though!

Can you post a photo of it or you in it? I'm sure it's beautiful regardless of the difference in color, especially if you loved the style of it.

In my honest opinion, a wedding dress is not a good place to try out a trend. Stick with classic lines and classic color.

Blush is beautiful and I've seen a few dresses with color that gave me pause, but it's such a passing trend.

(Yes I know white /ivory dresses started as a trend but it's one of the few fashion trends that has remained constant in weddings in the last 75 years)

You will thank me when your kids see your wedding photo.

The dress is beautiful, I think it will look stunning either way. If you really really want it to be blush call and ask if theres time to change, if there is no time dont worry about it I think it will still look beautiful

It's not about testing trends @Powers, it's about having a dress that reflects a bride and her personality.

@OP- I personally LOVE the color! But what I think is irrelevant, how do you feel in color vs. ivory/white? Which color do YOU want and feel best in?

Yeah I second Ms. G it looks stunning in champagne (sorry I see zero pink there), but it will also look amazing in ivory! Call and see if the color can still be changed, and if it can't, you'll still have a beautiful dress!

Can you post a photo of the dress you ordered too? You wrote "where it doesn't look too pink"... Does that mean YOU think it's too pink from another angle? If so, that's probably what got you second guessing your choice, if you like it in some angles, but not others.

ETA: I just saw the photo in your original post now. I actually think that photo looks LESS pink (maybe because it's darker/there's a shadow blocking light) than the one you posted later in this thread. It's a beautiful dress! But that is the dress you originally wanted but then changed your mind to ivory, right? I'd call the bridal shop and see if you can exchange it. Do you have photos of the one you ordered (not pink/champagne)? I'm sure that one is just as beautiful, since it's a gorgeous dress.

It's all some various shade of white anyway- most people pick what they call a "colored" dress and it just makes me laugh honestly- it's beautiful and stunning on you. Stay with what you bought. It looks great.

First thing you should do is call your shop to see if you can change it at this point. You may not be able to. If you can and you keep going back to it, I would switch. It doesn't look too pink and I think having the contrast stands out more when people see you walk down the aisle

I chose a blush dress because it looked best with my pale skin. I never expected to like it, but I actually veto'd a dress the I had been dreaming of because it didn't come in blush.

But, if you think that picture looks too pink... I think you will be happier with the ivory dress.

I think it will look amazing either way. It's a gorgeous dress! If you really want to change it though you should call and see if it's not too late. If it is though, it will still be beautiful.

Mine was ivory with blush under just like that one. I got so many compliments and it looked really beautiful in the pro photos. I think you'll look amazing no matter what, so don't worry about words like "classic" or "trendy." Do what makes you feel fucking fabulous.

I would definitely check with your seamstress to make sure whatever you do will work with the time frame though.
