regular dress size vs wedding dress

Mine was pretty true to size, but some designers are way off. It totally depends. Ignore the number. That's not what it's about anyway.

Most wedding dresses run small. A 2 size difference is pretty standard.

I have heard that wedding dresses are small for their size. Mine was true to size, but lots of the dresses were 1-3 sizes larger than my normal size.

I'm typically a street size 2 or 4 depending on the brand, but a size 6 Maggie Sottero wedding gown fit like a glove. Bridal sizing usually runs small now that vanity sizing is so rampant in the US.

I think it depends on the designer. I'm a street size 2, but in Maggie Sottero I ordered a 4. I had it taken in at the waist, but I think the boobs in a size 2 would have been too small. When in doubt go bigger!

All depends on the designer. don't worry about the number. Wear what fits and makes you feel beautiful!

Good lord are they EVER! I wear a 12. My dress is 16 and I can barely breathe in it. Some designers/vendors are worse than others though. I got mine at DB - which I think has been the worst for off-sizing in any wedding I have been in.

I agree. I'm normally a 14, and I had to get an 18w at DB because of "the girls"... rotten bastards.

I'm usually a size 2 and had to order my Vera from DB in a size 4. I had to have it taken in under the arms and at the hips, other than that it fits good.

Yes they are!! I'm usually a size 2/4 and I had to order a size 8. It has to be taken in at the bust a little, but otherwise, it fits.

My street size is a 10. I ordered a size 10 wedding gown and it was too big.

Yes they are different I am a current 2 and had to order an 8 in Venus bridal dress it was big in the bust area maybe because I have nothing lol

Mine was pretty true to size. I'm a street 0, and got a 2 only for my boobies. When I got it in, even the boob part was too big, so I probably could have gotten the 0 after all. It was a Wtoo.

Yep, about 2 sizes off, but depends on the designer. I am a street size 8 and had to get a 12 (and was none too happy about it).

I know it's just a joke and I'm not trying to take it too seriously, but I don't think we should be making comments about people's sizes on this forum. I'm really short (5'2), plenty curvy, and perfectly within the "normal" weight range for my size. And I eat plenty of ice cream :-) Just saying, we never know what someone's body issues could be. Carry on!
