Rehearsal Dinner Cost

How much are you budgeting for your rehearsal dinner (those of you who are paying for it yourself)? Or what % of your budget? My fiancé and I were just extrapolating costs, looks like we are at about $1000 out the door. Is that insane compared to everyone else? Smaller group- 18 people.

We will spend $700-800 for an informal pre wedding dinner at our house. We are hosting family and out of town guests. Currently our guest list has hit 60. We might as well have the wedding that night!

"My people"? Okay, Andrea...reading you loud and clear. Have a magnificent RD...that your attendants are paying to attend. Ignore us, and our "silly" comments (that are so silly, you felt the need to respond to them).

We had a few large pizzas worth. Around $70 total.

Rehearsal dinners only require the wedding party and do not need to be expensive.

@Andrea, the only silly comment here is yours.

For us, it was $1100 + tip. We had 22 guest at the rehearsal/welcome dinner (as we actually never rehearse). It was a apps, salad, artisan pizza and gelato.

We are going to be at about 2,500 for 26 people. We are going to an upscale restaurant. For a more upscale dinner this was the most affordable we could find in our area. I looked around A LOT to try to find someplace that was less expensive for the kind of dinner we wanted to offer but everywhere else was far more expensive. Based on that, $1000 seems pretty reasonable to me!

    ETA: this includes alcohol costs

We have about 45-50 people for our rehearsal. It's for the people staying at my beach house (mostly wedding party & a few extras) and guests staying at both of our parents' beach houses. Literally everyone is an out of town guest. We are doing pizza, salad, beer & wine. It will be under $500 for it all. And I'm making a bunch of desserts because I'm pretty good baker (and my guests requested it lol).

It looks about 600-800 for a party of 20.

We are having a morning wedding, so we are doing a rehearsal lunch the day before rather than a rehearsal dinner.

I'm only here for the comments....... lol.

Just kidding, for 19 people I'm looking about $1,000 out the door in the Northwest Ohio area.

We are having ours at a restaurant and I'm figuring about $750 for 25 people. Southwest, MI.

Sorry for all your backlash Andrea... However it is unheard of to expect guests to pay for a rehearsal dinner, with that being said if your budget is starting to get pinched maybe you could offer the rehearsal dinner to be optional? Informing those invited they will be buying their own food/drinks. Just try to imagine you being in one of your friends wedding, after buying the dress she picks out and all other items/accommodations... Would you be thrilled to pay for a rehearsal dinner out of pocket?

We are getting married out of state, destination weddings are not cheap! We are so grateful for our friends and family who are traveling out of state to be with us for our big day. We have decided instead of a traditional "rehearsal dinner" we have booked a private sunset cruise with drinks and apps after rehearsing for the ceremony on the beach. We realize all of our guests are treating our wedding also as a vacation for themselves, which is awesome! So I'm trying to plan as little "mandatory" meals/gatherings so they have more time to enjoy their vacation. The cruise is optional but 100% paid for by us. It will cost us $1,700.

For 18 people whew! I'm doing a lunch to save on the cost. Plus my venue is only available in the morning for the rehearsal.

We have about 30 people and its going to cost around $500 or so. We are doing a more casual beach BBQ which is helping to save money.

FMIL has generously offered to host the rehearsal dinner. We're going to a restaurant where the party package (food and alcohol) is about $50 per person, so that's about on target with your budget.

@Andrea: No, No, No. The Groom's parents pay for this or you do. Your BP does not pay. Why would you even consider anything like this?

We did a reasonably priced Mexican restaurant with open bar and paid $1100 for 30 people including tip. We budgeted $1300.

Ours is $19.00 per person at a restaurant not too far from the venue. Everything is included, including the tip.

I can't get over inviting someone to your rehearsal dinner and then making them pay for their own food & drinks. WTF?

Our rehearsal dinner will be about $3k for 30 people, including hors d'oeuvres, dinner, drinks, tax, service charge, and set-up fee.

I've budgeted $1500 for beer, wine, pizza, salad, sandwiches and dessert. We are having a welcome dinner and since our guest list is 90% OOT guests we are going to prepare for 100 people. Hoping most do their own thing the night before and only 50 show.

We're not really having one... FH's dad, sisters, brother and his wife, will be dinning with me and my parents, but that'll be about it. 99% of our guests are local and the 1% who are not, are 1 hour drive away at the most so they'll just come for the ceremony. Besides, most of our guests will already be joining us about 2 weejs before to celebrate my birthday (when I'll be also paying for their food/drinks)

I think ours will be about $500-$600 and we're having 18-20 people. We are having it at a local restaurant.
