Rehearsal dinner hair?

Rachel, on March 26, 2019 at 10:02 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

53 days and counting! One thing I'm starting to think about is the rehearsal dinner. I have hair that doesn't hold a curl very well, so my HMUA has asked that I don't wash my hair the night before (obviously) so my question is what should I do for the rehearsal dinner? I'm assuming I probably shouldn't straighten my hair that night if I want it curled the next morning? Should I do some loose curls myself for the rehearsal dinner? I'm not very good with hair or makeup so I don't want to risk screwing up what she can do the next morning!

These are good questions... I didn't even think yet about how night-before hair would affect the hair stylists' work! Sorry I don't have answers for you... but following as well Smiley smile

I have the same issue. My hair is very fine and does not hold a curl well. My hair stylist suggest I come on the the day of the rehearsal dinner (the night before the wedding). That way she can do a nice curl and put product in that will add texture to my hair. This then makes the wedding hairstyle hold better.

This is a great question Rachel!

Would you be comfortable doing some type of updo in your own hair? There are some super easy styles on YouTube you could try to replicate. That way you wouldn't be applying any heated tools to your hair. A simple braid or twisted knot could look great.

Have you spoken with your hairdresser yet? He/she may have some suggestions also!

I would ask your HMUA if it's okay to apply heat the night before or if could get in the way of what she does the next day. If she thinks it will be an issue, are you able to (or maybe a friend or family member) could do a nice braid on your or something?

If you're wanting to dress it up, you could try getting one of those hair vines to put in your braid after it's done so it'll look really nice and done up without too much effort!
