Rehearsal dinner help

Amina, on October 29, 2019 at 12:03 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 7
So we were planning to officially book or rehearsal dinner at Chickies and Pete’s last week at exactly the 12 week out mark like they asked. Turns out the pricing information that was provided to us months ago was wrong and the price went from what we thought was going to be $800-$900 up to $1400. We were apparently given the information for to go trays for people who pick up catering and take it with them not pricing for having an event at the restaurant. When the planner sent us the information I sent back very detailed questions about what she sent and she responded confirming what I thought to be true about the pricing and what’s included. When I go to double check that the food we would want would be enough for our guest list numbers, the planned immediately try’s to make me look stupid saying that nothing was included with what I was asking about and that the options I was requesting (which she provided and reassured me about months ago) was all wrong. After speaking on the phone with her, she sends us what is the correct pricing which turns out to be $30/ person and with our 45 person guest list that brings our price way above what we thought. I have no idea what to do instead because we had already planned on this location because the planner confirmed with us and now it’s all ruined. Anyone have any suggestions on backups or what to do moving forward??

Do you have what was confirmed in writing? Or was it all verbal? If its in writing, it "should" be honored.

I would call the manager & ask to speak to them, then explain the situation. Just explain the original quoted price is what you budget for so you aren't sure what to do now and was wondering if you guys could figure out a deal. If not, can you local to local rec centers, VFWs, friends houses?

Couldn't you just get the food "to go" as that is the price you were quoted? Then take the food to someone's house to have the dinner? Or even rent a cheap hall to host everyone?

I would definitely talk to the manager and explain what happened. Maybe you can meet somewhere in the middle on price.

I would print out all the emails and go to the location to speak with a manager. Maybe they would be willing to work with you on price? That's quite a price difference. And if you asked detailed questions to confirm pricing, there's no reason they gave you wrong info. Maybe they'll agree to honor the initial pricing, or work with you bring it down from what they're quoting you at now. Maybe start looking for a different venue around your price range (check out places on here, or look at the Bash or Thumbtack)? Or if possible, get the food catered from there and find somewhere else to have it?

I would first talk to her manager. Sounds like she's covering for making a huge mistake. Show him the emails that was sent especially your questions. In the meantime I agree look on Thumbtack , local VFW or even doing a back yard/house event. RD doesn't have to be over the top but def. don't put it off look into this asap.
