Rehearsal dinner invitation

Gen, on January 7, 2019 at 4:37 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9

Ok, so we decided we want to include a rehearsal dinner invitation in with our wedding invitations because we want to make sure the OOT guests who are invited to the rehearsal dinner (most of the rehearsal dinner guests are OOT) book their travel plans accordingly, knowing that they'll want to be there in time for dinner the night before. Our website (on the knot) also allows us to create online RSVPs for multiple events so that works perfectly if we have them RSVP online to both events at the same time.

I'm attaching the pictures of our invitation and of our details card that we already ordered. Invitation is 5x7 and details card is 3x5. Those are the only size options in that particular stationary. I feel like another 5x7 card that is exactly the same as the wedding invitation would be odd as a rehearsal dinner invite? So we are torn between (1) using an additional 3x5 card (exactly the same as the details card) with the rehearsal dinner info (is it odd to have the rehearsal dinner invitation just be a 3x5 card? there really isn't much info needed on it...), or (2) just using entirely different stationary altogether and having it be 5x7 (but is it odd to use different stationary on 1, when all 3 cards will be sent together in 1 envelope?). Both are pictured below.

Opinions?

I'd use the different stationary so it'll stand out and people will notice it as a separate invite and not a piece to the wedding invite. I love everything to match but since you're sending this with the invites I think having it stand out will be best.

This was our wedding invite and our rehearsal dinner invite, similar colors with the black and white but different themes for the two different events. I crossed out personal info.

Oh wow I love both of these! When did you mail the rehearsal dinner invites in relation to when you mailed the invitations?

Thanks! We sent wedding invites in the second week of November and we sent rehearsal dinner invites the first or second week of December. We tried to beat the Christmas rush (still failed).

So wedding invites were 10 weeks out, rehearsal dinner invites were 5 weeks out roughly? If I remember correct.

I actually like Option 1 because I like everything to match. Also, just an FYI, the rehearsal dinner isn't in honor of you two. Instead, it is in honor of your guests. You or whoever is hosting it is thanking your OOT guests, wedding party and immediate family, so they are the ones being honored.

No problem! It makes sense if it was a shower invitation because then you would be the guest of honor. But I don't think it makes sense for rehearsal dinner invitations.

I prefer the first option! We used the same stationary for our rehearsal dinner card and it was the same size as our details card. I thought it looked lovely and was very cohesive. Everyone saw the card and we had no issues with it being the same stationary.

We did the same thing and used the wedding website on the Knot for the RSVP process for both events. The invitations were 5x7, our RSVP/Details card was smaller, like 2.5x3.5 maybe, and the rehearsal-welcome dinner invitation was 3x5. We just stacked them in the envelope, face-up from largest to smallest (with the largest on the bottom). Since you've already ordered your invitations & details/RSVPs, I'd probably make the dinner invitations 3x5, if that's all that is available. (But, depending on where you're ordering from, you might look to see if they have any other card options in the smaller size, in your pattern. Daughter used Zazzle and the cards she used were listed as "accommodations" cards -- they weren't described as RSVP cards.) It looked really nice because everything matched and the 50 guests or so who were invited to the dinner received everything at one time -- and with daughter's choices, they still only needed one regular "forever" stamp.

For what it's worth, this whole process worked really well for us and within 3 days of the RSVP date, we'd heard from everyone and had our guest counts for both events -- easy peasy! Good luck!
