Need to have if you’re having a rehearsal, no matter how fancy or casual it may be. My friend is having pizzas delivered back her house and I think that’s all you need.

Need to have if you’re having a rehearsal! I think it would be nice to have all OOT guests join, but not necessary

Nice to have, I don't think it's absolute necessity

If I was having a huge wedding, I'd say need to have.

But I'm having a very intimate and short ceremony. 20 People max, and 20-30 minutes max... So nothing to rehearse, therefor no rehearsal dinner necessary for me. But I could see how it is very crucial for other wedding parties.

Nice to have, our rehearsal is at 11am the day before the wedding so we are not doing a rehearsal dinner. We may go to lunch afterwards though, but we are having a destination wedding so that changes things.

Need to have if there is a rehearsal. Doesn't need to be formal either.

I, personally, feel like they're unnecessary. Sure, they're nice. But why spend the extra dough on something like a dinner when you could just as easily spend less than half the amount on pizza and soda in the hotel the night before!! I mean why not!!!! A little treat isnt a bad thing! And if you're really that worried about having a slice or two (okay let's be real...5!!!) Order yourself a Cobb or chef salad! Or simply hit up the grocery store and grab some cucumbers (my favorite snack lately! Definitely helps with my want for brownies lately. Junk food sounds so good!!! But these inches must be lost, so no brownies for me!!)

Rehearsal? Not necessary. We skipped, no problem.
A gathering with the out of towners who traveled in before the wedding is a definite nice to have though! We skipped rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and went straight to— Welcome Reception. Drinks & apps & shared pizzas by the hotel late evening before the wedding (past dinner time) as guests arrived from their travels

Need to have. I have anxiety about things going awry due to a lack of understanding and communication, and having a rehearsal is a way to curb that anxiety. We also have out of town family in the wedding we'd like to have some extra time with.

Nice to have if you can afford it. With the wedding costs though we aren't doing that. The Best man is coming in from the other side of the state, so we may take him and his wife to dinner at least

Need to have! It's the least you can do for expecting the people to be there at the rehearsal!

I think asking your bridal party to give up a few days to help you out (set up, rehearsal, and the day of) is a lot to ask. What's wrong with paying them back with food? It also gives anyone you don't want to make a speech at your wedding to make a speech there where not a whole crowd will hear it
