Rehearsal dinner or no??

Jacey, on December 29, 2021 at 10:39 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10
Hey we are getting married 10 mins outside of downtown Denver. We are trying to decide if we want to have s rehearsal dinner or not. My fiancé doesn’t think it’s necessary but I think it would be nice to have an intimate dinner with the wedding party before the big day. Pros and cons?

Are you doing a rehearsal? If so, then you should also host a rehearsal dinner. The purpose of the rehearsal dinner is to thank your wedding party for attending the rehearsal. It doesn't need to be anything fancy - you could just order pizzas and hang out in someone's backyard. If not doing a rehearsal, then it's totally fine to skip the rehearsal dinner.

If you are having a rehearsal, you need to host some sort of "rehearsal dinner" (Some do lunch or brunch depending on time of day) thanking those who took the time to be there and rehearse. Doesn't have to be extravagant, pizza and beer, bbq, party trays, etc are fine if it's a cost thing. Some couples don't have rehearsals, they just communicate the order of the processional and recessional day of.

I would definitely do a rehearsal dinner then! Pizza, BBQ, taco bar, etc are all fantastic and cheap options. Otherwise, you could take everyone out to your favorite restaurant in the Denver area. Whatever fits your budget and vision the best!

If you having a rehearsal with people involved in the ceremony (bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc) a rehearsal dinner is a minimum requirement as a thank you for taking time out of their day to spend with you.

A common misconception is that they must be fancy expensive dinners to rival the reception. More often than not, couples actually go pretty simple with pizza and beer/sodas from a local favorite restaurant. Where do you normally eat pizza or tacos or Chinese? Call around to see who has a large enough space for your group including significant others. Single guests don’t need a date for this.

    Pros:
Opportunity to spend more time with your guests allowing you to relax more on the wedding day.

It can be more relaxed and informal which can be so much fun and less pressure than the wedding day.
As a guest, I find the rehearsal dinner more fun than the weddings sometimes! I love the intimacy and hearing the speeches.
Since it’s more informal, you can be creative and have fun with the theme, food, location, etc.
    More memories!

Cons:An added expense. Depending on your guest count, it can be pricey if you are paying for everyone to eat and drink!
    Another thing to plan lol

Might have to steal that idea. That's a good one.

If you're having a rehearsal, you'll need to host something to thank people for their time. Pizza and beer/wine at your place would be totally fine. Someone else had the idea of Olive Garden, anything like that would be great.
