Rehearsal Dinner Prices

Wifin', on September 15, 2016 at 1:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 72

I am currently looking into places to host our rehearsal dinner. The quotes I received from classic american restaurants near the host hotel range from $70 per person to $109 per person.

Just curious as to if these are good rates.

All feedback appreciated. Apologies if this is a duplicate post.

    Just go out for pizza?

ETA: No, these are not good prices.

I think that is way too high for a rehearsal dinner! We are going to a pizza place that is located on the same street as the venue for pizza, wings and beer! I looked at the menu and priced everything, we will be spending give or take $200-300 for that night.

Pizza and beer! You don't have to have an extravagant thing, it can be laid back and casual which is less stress the night before your wedding.

One restaurant I checked was $26 per person. That price included drinks, tax, and gratuity. A couple other spots did pizza and pasta with salad for about $14 per person. This did not include drinks, tax, or gratuity.

Depend on where you live and how big is your party.

I also look into restaurant and hotel and their PP is outrageous. Because we have 15 people, most restaurant won't take reservation without pre-set menu.

I finally found one that will let the guest order off the menu. As their most expensive plate is $30, it will be cheaper than their pre-set menu of $70 pp. You can also go very simple and casual like pizza or BBQ.

I think it is very expensive. Some of us, myself included, are not paying that for our wedding meals including booze.

I would keep looking. I personally prefer casual for the rehearsal dinner. I have done formal and casual as a BM and it is much more enjoying for me when I can relax a bit.

A.L. Christina & Mrs. CK - I live and die for pizza but I'm not a fan of the "pizza party" rehearsal dinner idea and we're not beer drinkers. I know it doesn't "have" to be fancy but I want it to be nice.. just not expensive as hell! lol

Felicia M- The places I've received quotes from give the option of a cocktail hour type of rehearsal dinner with heavy passed Hors or a 3 course meal with 3 different price points depending on which menu items you choose.

5starFM- Those are good rates! The catering for our wedding is quite a bit higher.

O&L- That's where we are getting caught up. We will have 20-25 people so most restaurants require a private event booking.

Deb- I think I will keep looking. I don't want formal..the wedding will be formal enough. I want them to relax and have a good time with good eats!

Can you talk with a restaurant about setting up a limited menu? Take maybe their most popular dishes say under $15-20 and make a special menu with just those for guests to choose from? Between the meal and soda/water you could get away with $25-30 a person, guests can pay for liquor?

That's way to much! Sounds like reception prices to me. My FMIL is paying for our rehearsal dinner and I would never let her spend that much per person. Just do something casual

We went with a place that has of meaning to us. It a lodge at the park/nature trail FH proposed to me at. It also has a lot of historical value for most of the people will be out of town. It is all you can eat fried chicken and cat fish. And 5 sides. For $20.

Honestly I would save the money for the wedding dinner. A limited menu at a really nice place would be better than having a hundred options and not great quality.

I got quotes pretty similar to that. Are you in a city? I'm in Philadelphia so we had a hard time finding anything much lower. The place we chose is I think $62 per person plus tax and tip for a 3 course dinner and an open bar. One place we looked at ended up being like $150 per person

Our with dinner is $15 a person and were offering beer, wine, and our watermelon signature vodka drink each is $5 a drink so depending upon how much they drink it should be around $30 per person for us not including tip tax etc...

Those are terrible prices imo. We are doing 35 pp and I think that's even excessive since our actual caterer for

    The wedding is charging 44.50.

Eta we are right outside of Boston

@ Cathy- Great idea but a lot of the places have a set food minimum anywhere from $****.. I will ask about that moving forward.

    @the D- Great advice. Thanks!

@Nope. - We live in DC. Our venue is in Baltimore and the bridal party and family are staying in Baltimore for the weekend so we're looking at restaurants near the Inner Harbor.

@S&P- Yes, we're in DC. The venue is in Baltimore. Sucks to be surrounded by big cities when it comes to stuff like this!

@Brooke- Great prices.. Our wedding catering is 3x that. smh.. I need to move to Boston! lol

We reserved the meeting room at the hotel we're staying at for $75 (super discount since we're staying there and already had the room reserved for getting ready the next morning). We are having City Barbecue do their drop service. For $15.50 per person, we are getting 3 meats, green beans, corn pudding, Mac and cheese, peach cobbler, plates, sauces and serving ware. We just need to bring drinks and set up the room.

Wifin', I live in Manhattan, and most restaurants would not charge you anywhere near that for dinner.
