Rehearsal Dinner Prices

I am currently looking into places to host our rehearsal dinner. The quotes I received from classic american restaurants near the host hotel range from $70 per person to $109 per person. Just curious as to if these are good rates. All feedback appreciated. Apologies if this is a duplicate post. ...

It all depends on your budget. What I think it outrageous may not be that way to you. If I were paying for a rehearsal dinner it would probably be somewhere no more than like $15-$20/per person, but that's just what we could afford. Luckily we're not having to pay for it as FH's parents are throwing down on it so we let them plan it completely and we're just showing up. :-)

@Ayesha- Now that's a great idea! I will have to call the hotel to see if we can do something similar. Surprised they aren't requiring you to have them provide the food..

@ A. L. - I guess that's where Baltimore and Manhattan differ bc most restaurants here are totally attempting to charge us that.

@ OG Alecia- I'm sure it is.. just not what I had in mind.

We are doing an Italian restaurant, it's like $15 a person. Includes entrees and beverages.

That's crazy. That is more than the price per person for my catering for my wedding (and we have awesome food). AND I'm in the DC area.

I'm currently deciding between California Pizza Kitchen or Paladar for a rehearsal luncheon (rehearsal is at noon with lunch immediately following).

What does those quotes include? Food and booze? Entree and salad? Seated plated dinner?

@ Jaded Raven- I've heard great things about Paladar! Ah.. Lunch. That's an idea I'm sure would reduce the price. Thanks for the idea.

Have you consider renting a meeting/ conference room at a hotel and get their catering? They tend to be cheaper then group pre-set menu at restaurant.

It was at GLOO and included a three course dinner. They offered a wine package as well for $15, but we didn't use that.

I think that's a bit overpriced. But it also depends on where you are located.

I would be shocked to pay that much for the wedding per person let alone the RD. As of now it looks like it will be between $20-30 pp for the wedding meal hopefully cheaper for the rehearsal.

Question.... Should the restaurant that we go to for the rehearsal have Alcohol ( it is hit or miss around me in places that have alcohol/allow BYOB) or just do a get together after the RD with alcohol.

I mean, it also depends on how many people you are inviting. It shouldn't be that many.

@Benjamin I think you should have at least beer and wine at the RD. Bonus if the restaurant is BYOB and you can just bring in enough bottles of wine/beer for your guests.

@ ELK thanks I have only ever been in one wedding and we went to a restaurant that didn't allow alcohol for the rehearsal.

    Thanks,
