Rehearsal Dinner Prices

I am currently looking into places to host our rehearsal dinner. The quotes I received from classic american restaurants near the host hotel range from $70 per person to $109 per person. Just curious as to if these are good rates. All feedback appreciated. Apologies if this is a duplicate post. ...

Stop it 250. If she's expecting wedding level food and service, GUESS WHAT? She should expect wedding level prices. In NYC, a nice dinner with a couple of drinks and dessert, with tax and tip can absolutely top 100.00 PP. It has nothing to do with the 'wedding' word. We're talking 30.00 entrees here. And a 25.00 menu is never going to be the same as a 75.00 party.

I'm not advocating for big expensive RD's; they actually don't need to exist at all, and if they do? Pizza and beer is just fine. But there is this creeping trend to invite all the OOT people and make it into a second wedding. Of course it's going to cost a lot.

I live in New York and the prices are always out of control! I understand you want a nice place, but don't want to break the bank. Look into a nice restaurant with an added room but maybe do a buffet to cut costs? Ours is the next day so people won't be eating too much- plus I'd rather them eat more at my wedding.

Ours is around $130 per person but we are doing it at a baseall game and that includes the two suites, catered food, dessert, beer/wine, n/a drinks, game tickets and parking for everyone. We are in Seattle which tends to have higher than average prices and we are including an activity.

@Wifin, where are you looking? I remember we're both Belvedere brides! I checked out the Rusty Scupper and it was really pricey, so we're back to square one.

What about any places in Little Italy? My sister and I threw our parents a 40th anniversary party at Chipparelli's 4 years ago. It ended up being around $4k and we had 60 guests.

Holy crap! I wouldn't pay that much! I'd just go to a nice restaurant and pay the bill like normal?

My mom's 50th bday we went to a restaurant and had 17 people and a private room. Everyone just ordered what they wanted and that was it!

Rehearsal dinners are expensive really no matter where you go. Mine came to a total of $687 for 30 people and that doesn't include beverages. That was the cheapest we could find in our area!

We are spending about $900 on ours... it is a BBQ place and we have just under 40 people to invite. With rental fee, tip, and everything it is about $900 give or take depending on who can go. I would say that $70-$109 is absurd per person for the rehearsal dinner.

I know a rehearsal dinner is nice, but we saved a ton by doing a rehearsal "luncheon". It's an option to look into to cut costs. We have a highly rated restaurant to ourselves before the rehearsal for approximately $30 per person.

Totally depends on your location and what kind of dinner you want. A side room for 35 at a Turkish restaurant in Brooklyn cost my sister's in-laws several thousand. A side room for 35 at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Oklahoma is costing us $600. A pizza party in your or another local family member's home would cost only a few hundred.
