Rehearsal dinner? Skip or have?

Lacey, on June 24, 2021 at 11:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

We have a small wedding (around 75 guests) and are skipping a wedding party. Is it silly to consider skipping a rehearsal dinner? Our officiant is a friend, so we can discuss who says what and stands where, etc. etc.

We're on a budget so we'd hate to pay for something that really doesn't provide much value anyway.

I personally would skip the rehearsal dinner because there is nothing to rehearse really except you walking down the aisle and where you and your husband will be standing. It's not silly at all, I feel like it would be kind of silly to have one lol

If there's nothing to rehearse, there's no need for a rehearsal dinner!!! Definitely skip.

I agree, this is fine to skip. And that's a very smart way to save money when your budget is tight.

If you're not having a rehearsal, then skipping a rehearsal dinner makes sense

I'm skipping the rehearsal and dinner and I have a wedding party. Our families have drama with each other and I feel that the rehearsal will just be a nightmare and we don't want that the night before the wedding.

I think you could definitely skip the rehearsal dinner. With no bridal party it should be super simple

If you are having a rehearsal, then something afterwards that you or parents cover the bill of is required. Pizza and beer/soda is very common and inexpensive.

If you are skipping the rehearsal then you don’t need a dinner.

I don't think it is silly to skip it if you are not planning to have a rehearsal

We're the same... we're likely not having a wedding party. I MIGHT have my best friend be a matron of honor just to have someone on my side, but there's no sense in a rehearsal dinner. Our guest list is at about 60 so we'll likely go out to eat at a restaurant with a private room the night before the wedding with those who want to join us instead of an actual rehearsal dinner.

We have a similar guest count and also decided against having a wedding party. So we’re not doing a rehearsal or a rehearsal dinner, simply because it’s unnecessary. It will just be FH and I, so there’s nothing pressing to rehearse. We’ll run through the ceremony with our officiant on Zoom. And just to be funny, FH and I will mock walking down the aisle using our backyard.
