For our rehearsal dinner, we will be having a real casual shrimp boil and providing beer. It will be at our venue (a barn), since we have it for the entire weekend. Our rehearsal dinner isn't so much budget based, as it is personality based. My FH and I aren't really into the formal sit down dinners, and this fits our style a lot more. Bonus: shrimp boils are EASY and affordable Smiley smile

We are having a ceremony rehearsal and inviting our wedding party to join us afterwards for a casual dinner at a nearby restaurant close to the venue. Due to our budget, we are unable to afford our wedding plus a rehearsal dinner. And we refuse to ask either side of our family to foot the bill, unless the offer is made. So far, it has not been made, so this is our plan.

Pizza does seem to be the popular choice!

The majority of our guests are coming from out of town so we decided to invite them to the rehearsal dinner. It felt wrong to exclude the local guests so we made it an open invitation to all with RSVP. My FH's parents are paying for the majority of the wedding.

Our wedding is formal with a sit down dinner but has a rustic elegance vibe. For the rehearsal, we wanted to keep the rustic vibe but make it more casual. We chose a venue that's described as an urban barn with wood beams and iron chandeliers. There will be an open bar and passed hors d'oeuvres but the meal and dessert will be buffet style with open seating.

Our wedding is at the Chesapeake Inn, Chesapeake City md. So we’re having it downstairs at the tiki bar. They have a brick oven and the pizza is delicious. We refuse to pay for their alcohol for 2 nights in a row, so that’s on them.

That sounds like a second reception, lol, but it sounds really lovely too. That is very nice of your future in laws to pay for everything.

I agree! Fortunately it's been easier to plan because everything from food to decor is provided by the venue. I can basically either just show up or put a few of my own touches if I want. Not everyone is likely to attend rehearsal either. RSVPs are coming in and some have said no to the rehearsal.

My FH is his parents' only child. They pretty much dote on him! I never planned on having a big wedding but my FH and his parents did. Fortunately (or unfortunately, dependingon how you see it), they've left ALL the planning to me! 😉

We are keeping it extra simple and fun! We are hosting it in our backyard and having pizza and smores. We will have a small bonfire and lawn games. Just a good time hanging out with our friends. Cheap and easy peasy and relaxed. We also didn't want speeches at our wedding reception and opted to let the MOH and BMan give them at the rehearsal dinner. Can you tell we are from Texas hahaha! Smiley smile

That is good. You are truly getting the best of both worlds: someone paying and letting you plan it your way.

My MIL has reserved a restaurant party room, and it's going to be a sit down dinner. I'm honestly not looking forward to it because I have the mother in law from hell. I have no say so in any of it, so I'm just like whatever..!!! I'm going to just look pretty. I would rather just do a dinner at someone's house.

We're just going to do a lunch at a simple restaurant like O'charley's or a Mexican restaurant. This will be the 1st time both of our families will all be able to get together at the same time and there's about 20 of us
