If you're having a rehearsal, you need a rehearsal dinner. The purpose of the dinner is to thank your wedding party members and family for taking the time to attend your rehearsal. It would be rude to skip it.

I'm not sure what you mean, but yes, the dinner should include food.

You won't be able to eat while you rehearse. Typically the dinner is right after the rehearsal.

I understand that but can I give the rehearsal first then have the rehearsal dinner right after, in the same day? Or plan the dinner another time?

Yes, they should be the same day. Just the same as the reception is right after the ceremony, the rehearsal dinner is right after the rehearsal.

Should I plan this like a week before the wedding or what's your opinion?

It’s usually the day before the wedding, but I would ask your venue what their protocol is.

Were not doing a rehersal dinner. Almost 90% of our guests are coming from out of town so we are doing bachelor/bachelorette parties 2 days prior rite after rehersal (because venue won't let us do it the day before). And we didn't want to do the partying the night before the wedding. also only way our friends can really go to the parties.

but we do plan to get together with family, special guests and do cocktail hour with them the afternoon before the wedding. so kinda rehersal dinner but not really.

Ok that's totally understandable. I need to check in with my venue to see if we can do this. And I hope they dont charge me extra 😫
