Rehearsal Dinner

on January 26, 2020 at 2:30 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 13
Is a rehearsal dinner necessary? After we rehearse wouldn’t it just be okay just to go out to eat and have fun?

That's what a rehearsal dinner is. It's necessary as long as you're having a rehearsal.

A rehearsal dinner is going to dinner after the rehearsal. You could host it yourself, rent an area in a park and have a food truck come by, go to a fancy restaurant, buy a bunch of pizzas, go to taco Bell... It's whatever you'd like to do, but food is expected by those in your bridal party.

Oh! I thought it would be something like you figure out where your suppose to sit and how to come in!
I’ve seen people do that before and it’s not something I am interested in 😂

I'm not sure what you mean, but the dinner can be as formal or as casual as you want. You could simply serve pizza at your house afterward if that's what you choose.

This sounds like you’re describing the actual rehearsal. In the actual rehearsal, you do practice how to enter the ceremony and where people should sit/stand. After you rehearse, then you go to the rehearsal dinner.

Okay I get it now, I thought you had to do the extra stuff like practice where you sit at the reception and how to come in! Thank you!

That’s fine as long as you’re paying for their food

So a formal sit down? No, that's not necessary -- but if you decide to have a rehearsal, you'll need to feed your bridal party and family something. We're thinking of renting out a party room at a sports bar and doing apps and open bar. We don't want anything super formal.

I've put together my entire wedding in one month, so we will be doing the rehearsal the day of. Just several hours before.

It's not so much an actual rehearsal for the reception dinner portion. rehearsal dinner is just to go out after rehearsing for the wedding ceremony portion [or i guess whatever you need rehearsing of], hosting your wedding party members or who ever was there at rehearsal

I know what you’re saying 😂😂 we are doing a quick rehearsal at the venue then going to a restaurant a few miles away to eat and have a few drinks and hang out! Figured that was plenty for a rehearsal dinner!

If you don't have a rehearsal, then you aren't required to have a hosted rehearsal dinner.

OK, so the point of the rehearsal is that you will, in fact, have a rehearsal. You'll arrange everyone in the order they're walking down and any other tasks people have been assigned, like telling your ushers who sits where, etc., and then you will eat. As others mentioned, you can eat out, you can order in, you can have pizza delivered, whatever. It's up to you! So yes, you can go out and eat and have fun, but you should do the actual rehearsal first so that there isn't a bunch of chaos and questions the day of, like "Where do we stand? What order do we go in? Where does your mom sit?" etc. Smiley heart
