Rehearsal dinner

Kelly, on February 24, 2022 at 2:34 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5
Finding a venue that is affordable for rehersal dinner is proving difficult. Beyond immediate family and the small wedding party, we are inviting those who have traveled from far to be with us which is the majority of the guests. So the dinner will be around 40-50 people. We think a sit down dinner is the appropriate thing to do. The issue we run into is everywhere seems to do family style, which pré-covid I thought was kind of gross but with this many guests and covid it seems inappropriate. I also wonder if guests will be turned off by sharing food and serving utensils that way. Thoughts?

That's kind of odd. I have rarely been to a restaurant that serves family style. Is this a new trend? As a guest, I wouldn't mind if I was sharing with my own family group. If there were several tables of like 5 or 6 then the restaurant could keep the same serving bowls per family. I know that doesn't help for guests who are not part of a small group.
I think if you're not happy with that keep looking. We had a hard time figuring out rehearsal dinner plans also. After many months of trying to think outside the box and keeping open minds we finally found the perfect place.

Thanks Candace! For sure, I don’t love it. I find the Italian places are more affordable but I will keep looking.

We were just going through the same thing. Our rehearsal will be in the city, so all of the restaurants were already expensive - even the cheaper places. We decided to have our dinner at the hotel we are blocking rooms at. They ended up having very affordable sit-down dinner. And because we blocked our hotel rooms there, they gave us 20% off food AND alcohol. Maybe try something like that?

My sister had a family style Italian dinner at her rehearsal in September. No one minded, but it was outside.
