Rehearsal Dinner

Kayla, on October 11, 2019 at 3:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Long story short, we aren't able to use our venue as a rehearsal space/dinner space before our wedding. Me being the overly prepared person I am, still feels its necessary to have a rehearsal. We'll be booking a hotel block that FH and I will be staying in, so I figured we could use the conference room for the actual rehearsal itself. But that leaves the dinner. We are thinking we will have around 45 guests for the dinner. My question is, how far in advanced should I book the dinner space? The place we want is pretty popular, so I want to ensure we can get it. But I'm also afraid of booking too far in advanced. Thanks!

I would call the location you're considering and ask them how far out they generally book for reservations your size and go from there. I would imagine it varies from place to place.

Just call the place and ask. They may or may not book this far out. If they aren't, then they'll tell you they book 6 months in advance and you can call exactly 6 months in advance!!

I would think it depends on the place. Call them and ask.

We just booked our rehearsal dinner spot yesterday and we are 11 months out. For me the location was super important. Everyone in our bridal party is from a different town or state so sticking close to the venue and hotels were important to me. My FH and I got food from the restaurant attached to one of the hotels, it was so good. They also had a 40 person event space where you just have to spend $150 for it, which we should do easily. Everyone will be able to walk back to the hotel after and not have to worry. Plus we are going to hang at the bar of the restaurant for awhile with all of the other out to town guests. The manager told my FH it's never to early to book, plus it gives me peace of mind and less anxiety. So it doesn't hurt to call to see when you can book.

I would definitely call sooner rather than later and just get specifics from them and let them tell you when the best time to reserve would be. I imagine it varies from space to space but being a planner, I'm sure you'd want to secure it sooner rather than later, like me!

I'm getting married in 3 weeks and we haven't booked a place only bc they don't take reservations up until a week out so it really just depends on where you go

We booked our dinner place about 8 months in advance. They're very popular and fill up quickly for the holidays.

I inquired 18 months out and was told I couldn’t officially book until at least 12-11 months prior to the event. If you ask they can tell you what makes sense for them based on popularity and advance booking restrictions.

I don’t think too soon is never too soon. I say call and ask to see if they’re booking so ahead of time and if they are reserve it then! I booked our rehearsal dinner/welcome party 10 months before. I coordinated final guest, decor, meals and all details later on as time passed but the space was already reserve for us.
