Rehearsal... It is really necessary?

Tina, on July 3, 2019 at 6:52 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
We are having 3 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen and 2 flower girls (and 50 guests)... is having a rehearsal really necessary? Are any of you skipping having rehearsal?

Well, due to the fact that my horse will take me to the aisle, I'm definitely doing a rehearsal.

I want her to be familiar with the set up.
The rehersal is usually for the bride to stand back and see if she likes how everything looks.

I think it will make things run more smoothly in my case.
I guess it depends on how traditional you are.

It's not necessary unless you have some more elaborate elements to your ceremony. We are doing a hand fasting ceremony where we will have 6 cords draped and tied over our hands. Pur bridal party is helping with this, and we definitely need to practice first! So for us, a rehearsal is necessary and our officiant is requiring it! If you have a small wedding party and a more straightforward ceremony, then a quick run though the morning of should be fine!

We aren't doing one. It's a pretty simple ceremony and concept. 1 moh and 1 bm. The groom and bm will take their places at the altar. The moh will walk down. Then the flower girl. Then me. There's a clear and rather short aisle. Instructions will be walk towards the window. The flower girl we will just tell to go down the aisle throwing the petals and meet up with the officiant and her mother the MOH so they will be able to assist if she gets stuck. Kind of hoping she does something random and memorable, anyway.

Like if she starts handing out flower petals to people I would love it. She's 3 so you never know.

Your officiant can tell people what order to walk and where to stand just before the ceremony. That worked for us.

I'm only doing it because FMIL is paying for a rehearsal dinner because she is an elderly Southern lady and will only contribute to traditional groom's parents responsibilities 🙄 Of course we'll take any help we can get, but it's still more stress. You can't have a rehearsal dinner without a rehearsal. I love her, but I wish we could use the money for something more practical, like toward the venue deposit, but I don't want to offend her.
