Removing labels

Sara, on July 28, 2019 at 8:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
I'm planning to diy decorations and have been saving glass jars, spaghetti sauce, jam, pickles, relish, ect. And planning on possibly using beer bottles for flowers and wine bottles maybe, have to see how it'll work for water on tables. But I'm having trouble getting the labels off. So far I have about 50 oui yogurt jars that I'm going to make into candles. Those labels peel off really easily with just some soapy water. The other jars are a little tricky.

Anyone have some fool proof ways to remove labels. I really don't want to use that goop-off stuff would like something more natural. I saw online it said oil and baking soda just wondering if anyone has had any luck.

I use hot water, dish soap and a reusable sponge. It takes a little elbow grease and sometimes you gotta soak em over night but it works.
We're using glass peanut butter jars for centerpieces so I've scrubbed quite a few of them.

I just let mine soak in hot water and they usually come off easily with little scrubbing.

I soaked mine is soap and water but then used goop off spray and worked amazing. I know you want more natural but I done over 70 cans/jars and that was faster and worked best for me

I soak mine in hot water for about 30 min till the water is just cooled enough to pull the glass out w/ out burning myself lol and then just use a washcloth with a scrubby on it to get all the glue off

Yes you must use it in an outdoor or well ventilated space. I wore gloves. They recommended a face mask and googles but I didn't use them. Other methods and tricks didn't work for me. Good luck

I did this with my wine bottles. I let them sit in the sink for like 10 minutes then peeled the labels off. Some didn't come off totally clean so I just used a non-abrasive scouring pad to remove any left over residue. It was so easy!

Soak in hot water, dish soap, and elbow grease. If needed, Goo Gone is a great for leftover residue.
