Removing Spray Paint from Mason Jars

Megan, on May 10, 2015 at 9:15 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

I started painting my mason jar centerpieces today and one of my main ones didn't come out that good, it has pain drips all around it. How do I remove paint from mason jars? I tried nail polish remover and scraping it off but it is not working very well. I am trying to avoid having to buy paint thinner.

Sorry, but paint thinner is the only thing I've found to remove spray paint. Make sure you wear extra thick gloves!!!

I used acetone and one of those green scrubby things. I sprayed the acetone with a squirt bottle, the let it sit just 30 seconds or so.

It may cost you more to try to remove the paint than to just start over with a new jar. Did you paint the inside or the outside of the jar?

Thanks! Ill probably end up using paint thinner. I didn't take a close up picture of the one with the paint drips, it is the taller of the 3. The smaller ones were my test ones and they came out fine but the most important one was the one I messed up

..hmm i know you can remove dried nail polish with wet nail polish... perhaps you can remove paint with paint?

Take a little paint add it to your area that ran, then wipe with paper towel..might work
