Renaissance festival bachelorette party

MrsJackson, on May 31, 2018 at 5:09 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 35

I kind of just wanted to share this idea I have for my bachelorette party. I know that the MOH or BMs are supposed to plan the bach party, but I really wanted to go to the Renaissance festival.
Now, before you think that it's too much walking and not that much fun, hear me out.
We will be camping out in the camp grounds of the fest the Friday before and Saturday night.
There will be a lot of drinking, games and all sorts of fun involved in the fest and in the camp grounds.
Not everyone is a fan of camping, but mixed with some fun people and fun times, I think it's gonna be an awesome bach party.
Also, I'm going to have everyone dress alike Smiley smile

What do you guys think?

So cute! What a fun idea. The tutus will make for super cute pictures. You could even wear a crown since it's in theme with the festival? Does the campground have showers? I would be most concerned with showering before I walk around the festival all day

Yes, I'm hoping everyone can get a flower crown and mine could be really big lol.
Yes, there are showers. Unfortunately, you have to pay for them, but they're not expensive.
Also, there's only porta potties at the campground Smiley sad
I think eventually we won't mind after a few drinks, though.

Are your friends into this sort of thing? Is it something they would suggest on their own? As the bride you really don't get to have any part of the planning unless they ask you for potential dates, possible ideas and a guest list. Making everyone dress the same is also not recommended unless you're planning on buying everyone's outfit only after they enthusiastically express their desire to wear matching outfits.

I think that's a great idea. I'm not a camping fan but I'm a huge renfaire fan. I hope you have a blast!

Most of my friends are very cool with it, maybe not suggest on their own because it's a pretty unique idea I think.
I am paying for the outfits myself and no one has expressed disinterest in it. Plus, I think it adds a bit more fun because we'll stand out.

I love how every one who knows they're overstepping says " I know" and "but".

Well I wanted everyone's opinion and this is kind of a weird and unconventional bach party.

Once of my best friends did this, but she got a wedding dress for le $20 at a second hand store and wore that 😂 everyone had a blast, even those who aren't normally into renfest. I think it's a great idea!

We did RennFest for our joint Bachelor/Bachelorette. Except we stayed in an Airbnb, not a camping person. It was a lot of fun!

I would let the people hosting plan if they want everyone to do a matching t shirt or something. I wouldn't get involved in the outfits. Kinda oversteps as a bride.

I have been camping and I'm not the biggest fan but if someone had this idea I would def be down I love renaissance festivals. Do what you want for your bach party, We went to Vegas for mine and my one requirement was the grand canyon lol best decision ever! It is about what you enjoy doing and what will make sure you have fun!

Yea, I get a little confused because people say to have fun at your bach party, but you also shouldn't really plan it.

How is it confusing? It's pretty straight forward. You don't plan parties in your own honor. If someone asks your opinion or asks for input on the guest list, that's fine, but you don't take over the planning.

I would hate this. If I was the MOH and the bride planned this, I would feel awkward and uncomfortable because I'm sure she'd be hurt if I skipped the party but I'd be miserable going. If you're saying some of them don't like camping, it doesn't matter who is going to be there- they're only going because you want them to.

Why can't you go to the Ren Faire anyway with whomever wants to go and plan that yourself but let them plan the bachelorette party themselves? There are solid reasons why you don't throw your own parties for yourself.

Though I’m down for following “guidelines”, I have always been a bit baffled at the idea that the bride is to have little to NO input on her own celebration. It’s supposedly in “her honor” but oftentimes the actual planner disregards this rule and plans something the bride would have ZERO interest in. I’m sure many a bride has been greatly disappointed in what is intended to be a fun, cut loose kind of thing if the wrong person happens to plan it - making the whole outing an akward let down.

OP, as long as you know your peeps are down, keep your bridezilla in check and allow the planner(s) to run with your idea, I say go for it! It’s no fun knowing every detail any way - leave a little mystery in the day. Aren’t you tired of planning? Lol. Sometimes we have to ignore some of the masters of the WW domain 😉

Have fun! Can’t wait to see your BAS pics.

This is a brilliant idea! Love it.

I LOVE the ren fair, and hate camping, and I still wouldn't mind spending a night out in the woods for someone Ioved enough to be in their wedding party.

Now I just totally want to go to the ren fair.

You could do a tiara with flowers intertwined in it! Sense your girls have flower crowns.

The thing I don't understand about the idea that your not supposed to throw your self parties is this. Do you never throw yourself a birthday party? Or a house warming? Or a graduation party?
