Renaissance Theme Wedding

Jissell, on December 15, 2022 at 10:24 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hello I am Jissell the Bride to be. I have been dreaming of a Renaissance wedding in a rustic Barn and Cottage setting. I have found the potential site in Upstate Ny. Very slim options out there with all I envision. My fiancé David and I are romantics and want a storybook on a budget wedding. I have been collecting items to make my own design. A royal flair with LOTR and various inspirations. Looking for ideas and as we get to a place where I can reveal details and share. Hope to make connections with couples that can inspire and share their own experiences. Look forward to meeting you.

Hi Jissel. I would start out with a Pinterest board or a mood board for a cohesive vision. I would caution about buying things 2 years out as you may change your mind, costs add up, and few actually put in the effort to resell.

I would try to lean into the ceremony venue itself and not add too much outside if there is a view. You wouldn't want the eye to compete with natural beauty or take away the guests of honor at the top center (you!). Ceremonies tend to be shorter than the reception so you don't need much and/or can move decorative objects into the reception space.

I would also lean into your reception space. If blank slate (empty space), this will be more difficult. I'd say focus on big elements that have huge impact. For Renaissance, maybe drapery, diy amber-colored uplighting, and candelabras or low candles. I think woodsy may also be a theme, and a centerpiece option could be clear vase and leafless branches-- slightly goth, slightly earthy. Patterned linens and gold trim also remind of the era. Best wishes!

Michelle, This all sounds amazing the Pintrest board is a definite place I like saving ideas. I will definitely implement a vision board so as to get a better picture. I just visited a venue last night and it has much to offer as a micro wedding ceremony and reception in one place. Lots of decorations I can use at no charge. I have one other venue I would like to view before signing, so this will help with the planning and staging of the space. I love the natural beauty of the outdoors. So Fall is definitely an option to incorporate. A winter wedding is still being considered. Once we choose a date it will be easier to choose other elements.

Love the candelabra idea perhaps a center piece element. Low candles I have some vintage glass goblets and may use some along with the wood cut rings to place on tiers. Woodsy definitely fits the barn so it will be beautiful with our colors navy and coral.

I'm thinking a moody color scheme with wildflowers and ferns. Maybe some candles and matte linens

Oh, if you're leaning towards Renaissance faire less Italian Renaissance, then maybe less gold trim, metals. I do think velvet is great in either case & fab for cooler climates. 🙂

Definitely English and Spanish wedding as we combine our families heritage. My gown is heavy and I definitely am favoring cooler climate. I think we both agreed on a winter with some snow. I don't know if my out of state family who all live in hot climates will like it. But layers are going to be a nice thing with the renaissance dress code.
