Rent a dance floor, or no?

klimberkat, on April 24, 2015 at 9:24 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

The venue in hoping to go with (tour Sun to make final decision) has a hard smooth floor, no carpet. I was thinking of using decor to frame out the dance floor area, so I could skip renting a wooden one. I'm thinking wine barrel cocktail tables in the corners, the DJ at one end, and lanterns and giant air filled balloons suspended overhead to make it clear, this is the party space. I have a long time to decide, but I'm working on the budget for this venue and I need to decide if I should include the dance floor. (Note: I'm willing to spend the $$ on the decor, just not both if I can help it). I Have done this idea of framing out the dance floor before when working on client events, but usually because we were unable to bring in a dance floor. I attached a picture of the space so you can see the floor.

I'm not sure, I personally like the aesthetic of a dance floor, but it really depends on the look you're going for and what you're comfortable spending your money on. It's not a functional necessity so it's hard to say one way or the other. I would want one if my venue didn't already have one.

Only time I've seen people rent a dance floor is for outdoor wedding. I think you are fine without it.

I think you are completely okay without renting an actual dance floor. It isn't carpet so I think your idea of decor will work great!

Don't waste the money on the floor. That's a wonderful space. I assume you will have tables all around...kinda framing the dance floor? If you put some of your decorations and such up there it would look really nice. People understand...dj, music, lights, open space....let's dance! Smiley smile

You don't need to rent a dance floor, think about this. When the Dj and the tables are set up that will naturally frame a space for the dace floor.

I was thinking the same thing as the other posters. There wouldn't be a need to rent a dance floor unless it was outside or an uneven/rough surface. Once you have the tables, chairs, and decor in there, you will already be leaving an open space for the dance floor area. And guests will know where the dance space is regardless. If that big open space over there wasn't a hint enough, you two doing your first dance in that space would give it away. Smiley smile Plus, by not having one, you remove a tripping hazard lol Smiley smile

Thanks guys! Around here most events are outside, in a carpeted ballroom, or a venue that has a built in dance floor. The first two get rented floors, so I'm just super used to it being part of the list of things you need. Glad you all agree. Going for our tour tomorrow, and hopefully signing the contract on the venue Mon. Yay!

Here is something to consider when thinking about using the floor at your venue rather than renting a dance floor. Under the tile is a concrete slab which is as you all know is very hard and does not give. So when your guests and yourself are out on the floor dancing they are pounding their feet on an unforgiving surface and after just a few dances will feel the pressure build in their feet and legs. If you have a portable dance floor you will have some cushion under your feet which will make it more comfortable to dance on. Here is a good article on renting a dance floor.

I would agree with the one who says we should not waste money for dance floor. As carpets can give you great advantage. As we have huge collection of floor mats and carpets which we can use.I am one of the dance trainer so I new the type of carpets and dance floor we need.I recently purchased some products for my own dance floor which is really amazing...If possible go through

    website and share your views.
