Rent or Buy Suits?

Brittany, on November 27, 2021 at 3:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
My fiancé and I are in between having the men buy suits or rent them. Which do you think would be cheaper? Especially right now with the sales I would think buying would be the cheaper way, what do you think? Or what did you do for your wedding?

Think about whether they will be reworn. Men wear suits frequently while a bridesmaid dress is a one time wear. However it’s suggested to rent the suit and buy the dress. I would purchase the suit (not a tux which is less likely to be worn again) to get your money’s worth. You also have to factor in alterations which make more sense on a suit you will keep rather than give back.

This is one of those things you really have to price out by store. We had our groomsmen rent their tuxes because they got a head to toe look, including dress socks and shoes, for $99. There’s no way they could have bought their attire for that little.

For our first wedding, hubby and his groomsmen rented their attire. This time, I am surprising hubby with a custom made suit. He’s extremely muscular and it’s hard to find suits that’s fit him. His groomsmen will probably rent their attire since they aren’t the dressy type and will probably never wear it again.

Well renting will probably be cheaper no matter what. But for my fiancé and his groomsmen they all could use new suits that fit them so they are all going to buy them. All men could use a classic suit so I think buying is worth the money, as long as they don’t already have a ton of suits.
    For tuxes definitely rent.

Men's clothes and shoes are expensive, no joke. But, I think if the man will wear it again, it could be a practical investment to purchase. Tux styles have changed over the years, as suit styles, so I know some of my group bought new tuxes with a leaner cut. As a gift, I bought my husband a new dinner jacket and tux shoes, and am so glad for the sale. He's since reworn his clothing for other parties.

We went with a place that allows them to rent or buy so we didn't have to make the decision. To rent it's around $200, My fiancé is super hard to get clothes for so he's buying his to insure it will fit how he wants for our day. That was around $600 I think, but he also chose to purchase the vest and the same white shirt everyone else will be renting.

We're actually letting our groomsmen decide. The bridesmaids will be doing a mismatched look, so the groomsmen will as well. We've requested that they wear a suit in a shade of blue or gray, and I've provided suggestions for places to rent as well as places to buy. Some of them have no real reason to purchase a suit and wear it again, whereas FH wants to buy his suit specifically to wear again in the future.

Maybe poll the guys and see which option they'd prefer?

We bought my husband's suit because he needed one in general and he has reworn it multiple times since
