Rentals Pick Up Morning After?

Miche, on September 15, 2022 at 11:59 PM Posted in Planning 1 3

We're having a micro wedding and blocked a bed & breakfast for our event; so all our guests are staying there, and the event is happening in the b&b gardens. Because it's blocked for us, we have it through the night and into the next morning.

Our rental company is charging us $700 for an after hours pick up.

Their service times are from 9am-5pm***, and our wedding reception ends at 9pm.

Would it be strange for our rentals to stay out overnight and get picked up the morning after, instead of the night of? Has anyone done this before, and if so, how did it work out for you?

*** Also, technically a separate question, but is this fee structure normal with rental vendors? I found it strange that their event service times were 9-5... They're charging us $80 for standard drop-off, $110 for specific time slot drop-off, $80 for standard pick-up, then $700 for after hours time slot pick-up.

It definitely would be worth trying to work out a two-day rental with a pick-up in their normal hours. The cooperation of the venue for the overnight duration sounds like a good opportunity to avoid an absurd off-hours pickup. They also would not likely lose business to any further degree than upon an off-hours return.

I suspect they often rent to places which will be able to take deliveries and pickups at normal hours even if the event is just in the nighttime (for example). Wedding venues often only have the short hours which reach into the evening. So, for this type of rental, the company cannot normally keep people scheduled for the later hours.

Sounds fairly normal. I’d try to work something out with your venue so you don’t have to pay a fee. However definitely get whatever they say in writing. I’m going through a situation right now where my venue is saying one thing to my planner and rental company but telling me another.
