Renting a Summer Camp

Josephine, on January 8, 2018 at 11:34 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hi everyone! We would like to rent a Summer camp in October 2018 in Washington State. We would want to do a full weekend of vacationing there with close family and friends. And then a ceremony and reception with everyone else. Has anyone done a Summer camp rental before? Any tips or experiences you can share? There isn't much info on the internet. Any help would be appreciated!

I am in process of something similair. Only advice i can give is remember you are planning a DIY wedding you typically don't have an assistant. Therefore no one to cut cake serve food etc. So hire vendors that are self serve type. Also get a tent if outdoor. You dont want your reception in dark or in weather. Good luck.

Are you charging guests to stay or is it free to them? What ever you do don’t charge the bridal party, if you have one.

Be careful how you communicate meals other than the reception to guests. You don’t want to give the impression that every camp fire meal is on you as that can add up even if it’s just hot dogs and burgers etc

Are you having an indoor heated area for your reception and ceremony? Washington state can be cold in October (I live in Vancouver). How will the power situation be for catering? I think it's a neat idea for people that love to camp but there are logistics to be considered.

Thanks. Everything that I checked out preliminary has a catering system in place for a price. Let me know how your wedding goes. What are some of your details?

Each place seems to have a heated and powered mess hall that suits us well. I live in Seattle, it is going to be either raining or gorgeous and sunny !

That's a good point. Every place I looked at had an opportunity for some kind of food for everyone for the two days, relatively cheap. Should I ask for a tasting from them? And yes the whole camp and cabins would be on us. I wouldn't like charging for family.
