Janessa, on June 25, 2020 at 3:48 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 14
Hey everyone , I wanted to know opinions on renting a really nice mansion or villa with a spacious backyard almost garden like . Has anyone every done this? And trying to compare the financial stats vs paying 5,000 and up on a venue

I've thought about this and looked into a couple of places but honestly, I did not have much luck. A lot of airbnbs will say they will not allow their space to be used as a wedding venue or they may request for you to notify them to discuss details prior.

The only listing I found that could accommodate weddings ended up being just as expensive as a regular venue. Hopefully, you live in a different area with more choices! We ended up selecting a government owned building which was more within our budget Smiley smile. Good luck!!

If you have a small amount of guests maybe but AIR BNB's are actually prohibited to be used as party houses. I was looking into that for my intimate with ceremony with us and two friends no reception after and the owner said that was ok but just the ceremony with a couple of friends. I honestly would do a wedding venue as they must have some insurance for if someone breaks something or alcohol.

Hi Janessa! I'd definitely check the policies on hosting events in rental properties, and also try to do a quick estimate of what the additional costs could look like!

Sometimes it can be easy to find a cheap venue if you're solely renting the space, but when you add up all of the additional costs (catering, table & chair rentals, hiring servers and bartenders, paying for set up / take down / cleaning, lighting, decor, etc) it could cost you more in the end!

I am looking into the same thing. Some of the houses on Vrbo actually advertise as a wedding venue. A lot have 3-7 night minimums but they can help with wedding planning and vendors as well. Others just say additional fee if hosting a wedding I saw one additional $500. Some state they are a great spot to host parties. My mom found a place I think it was key largo lighthouse ? But you rent the house and then additional guests I believe was only $50 or so. There was some packages. I’m still looking into it

I had an air BnB booked and paid for in Hawaii Oahu and had to hire a wedding planner to plan because all we had was the house, which was beautiful on the beach, and they canceled on us! Also, there were only 2 air BnB venues on the north shore that were approved for weddings. I think there used to be a lot more before they cracked down. Now we are stuck with all the restrictions in Hawaii saying only 5 people max for events apparently...and our wedding planner won't give us a refund and she was expensive. I have hinted so many times of how we really want to cancel and how this is the worst but nope. I'm now realizing if we book a venue many come with a planner!! And we live in FL so we could have as many people as we want at a wedding here. My fiances whole family lived on Ohau but his Dad also passed last month so now it's super sad. I really wish she would give us a refund. Sorry for the rant, I could say so much more. I would go with a venue with a planner included at this point.

We actually got a full refund from the air bnb but not our wedding planner, i'm currently working on a letter proposal but am having some trouble with the wording and would love any lawyer to just take a quick look at it! I doubt she will give us one! At this point it's caused so much stress it's causing us to split up completely!

I’m so sorry to hear that. Smiley sad

Defiantly get a second eye to take a look at it, and maybe even try and work on a deal with her where she keeps a certain percentage if she had to complete some work.
Don’t let it break you guys up. Maybe leave him out if the communication on that as well? While we may be able to handle the stress men hate planning and he may be fearful to go down that road again and may resent planning a whole new wedding.
My FH hates planning so I left him out of a lot, I’ll send some positivity your way! ❤️

Her attorney husband is her business partner and I am working on a letter in writing for a refund but I doubt it is going to happen. She did not find the venue, we did. We found the Dj. I found and bought my own decor. She did give us a $20,000 alternative when we told her our venue canceled like we are made out of money. She sent me a really unprofessional: questionnaire" and another vendor list that was so unruly, I could show you an example. It was so lazy done that the list wasn't even in the same font!!! At that time I went with it of course. I just wish we never picked her.
