Renting vs buying linens?

Heather, on October 12, 2020 at 4:09 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15
Buying linens is so much cheaper than renting linens it's ridiculous! You would think that the answer would be obvious right? But I also don't want to be stuck with a bunch of linens that will be never used again! We also live in a really small town and the likely hood of ever being able to resell them is almost none.

It might be cheaper up front. But you have time/labor costs involved with steaming them before the event, getting them laid out, cleaning them afterwards, and are you going to keep them or sell them? Donate them to your church? That's time spent too. Honestly, I would rather spend a few extra dollars to rent and not have to worry about any of those things, plus have time that can be better used elsewhere.

We bought our linens because it was cheaper. It wasn’t until after I’d spent $500 on linens for a destination wedding that I realized we’d have to get them there & then steam/iron them! Renting definitely has its perks- they are delivered to you already ironed & ready to go. I wish I’d thought of that before purchasing them!

You could always try selling them on Facebook marketplace or a different site

How do they manage to deliver them ready to go are they rolled? I mean we bought ours we plan to steam them the night before, this is fine but I am thinking if rental places can "deliver ready to go" how do we accomplish the same. Please help if you have any insight.

The place my cousin rented them from brought them in already ironed and pressed. They put them on all the tables for them and had a small travel steamer for any little wrinkles that may have occurred during the drive. They were absolute perfection.

But do you know how they "brought them in" I know little about linens but if there is a way to steam/ iron in advance and not get big creases again, we would love to do that. we have just over a month til our wedding and we are trying to complete everything we can in advance. Thanks in advance.

Usually they're folded for storage and transportation

They had a huge delivery truck with a rack running the length of it, which they laid the table cloths over. Then they brought hand steamers with them just in case there was a crease down the middle of the linens from where they were hung.

Anyone have any sure fire methods on this? We bought ours and have 2-1/2 weeks to get them ready.
