After your wedding, has anyone gotten their wedding dress cut down to a short cocktail dress? If so, can i see pics?

My dress would not look right in any setting other then a wedding. I would be very curious to see if someone has done this. I get it with bridesmaid dresses, but not a wedding dress.

My dress wouldn't have looked good cut short. I think only a handful of styles could pull it off. I donated my dress to Brides Across America... they give wedding gowns to military brides. It helps a good cause AND it is tax deductible. My daughter is tall like her dad, so it will never fit her. Paying it forward feels good.

Sarah...what a thoughtful thing to do! Standing ovation for you! You know, one woman is going to see that gown and not believe her luck, right? Karma owes you, and that's a good place to be.

My dress would not work as a shorter dress.

My dress will look really weird if I cut it short. I saw a thing on pinterest where they framed the dress and hung it in their closet. I think I may do this, depending on how it looks hanging up.

I'd never cut the dress short, but I'm thinking of taking the skirt of mine in to make it more like a runway/evening dress. as of now it's a full skirt ball gown.

My dress is one shoulder with a ruffle. I was thinking of getting it cut to right above the knee. It is a line with some stuff underneath to make it a little fuller but I would get that removed. If I end up getting it done I'll post a pic. Was just wondering if anyone else has done this

I bought a vintage gown with train. Had train cut off and dress shortened to tea length. Was great for an afternoon garden wedding. But, can't imagine wearing it again as a cocktail dress.

The first picture is my mom on her wedding day 27 years ago. She kept her dress and planned on one day giving it to me.

After I got engaged I tried on her dress and sadly it didn't fit at all!

The second picture is my dress that we made out of moms dress. We used the train to make the dress itself. It has her lace around it, her beads, and her buttons.

I'm not sure if the dress can be refurbished any more for when I have a child. We shall see.

Yeah neat idea but I feel like I would just be a mess of lace if it was cut short....only so many occasions a person can wear a princessy lacey dress...but if you had a more simple classic cut dress then maybe it could be cropped and dyed and be quite cute!
